The main design concept for the lower school building was to reinforce the school’s collegiate atmosphere, while interweaving a fun, creative, and colorful whimsy into the facility, as depicted by the bright blue metal and brick facade with red, almond, and bronze trim.

To maintain that status and develop a solution for a failing wood shake roofing system, The Club chose to install metal roofing from the Natural FX Coatings palette offered by The Bryer Company.

Concealed beneath a lay-in ceiling, the building's hallmark sawtooth structure remained hidden from view. This architectural feature, characterized by its series of upward-facing roof sections resembling the teeth of a saw blade, held the potential to transform the space into something truly remarkable. 

As part of supporting a healthy community, the project prioritized sustainable design, green building materials and energy efficient systems, to earn LEED® Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Last week, Michigan Central and Ford Motor Company announced the opening of Michigan Central Station, the heart of Michigan Central’s 30-acre tech and cultural hub, offering new levels of tech infrastructure, including urban transportation solutions that advance a more sustainable, equitable future. 

The two crystalline high-rises are clad with glass curtainwall, selected for its high performance and clarity. To meet the aggressive performance goals, which included energy savings 24 percent below the ASHRAE baseline, the glazing played a key role.

Designers opted for a simple palette of materials that recalls classic mountain lodges, with masonry, wood timbers and architectural metal panels in a Corten-style finish that help create a sense of age, as though the park has been there for decades, despite its up-to-date features.

The metal roof solar project at Grupo Comercial Chedraui sustained severe damage. However, the solar metal roof of its Acapulco store was one of the few that survived the onslaught of wind and rain, attributed to the clamp attachment securing the solar array to the roof, which provided a stronger attachment and may have saved the roof and the entire infrastructure.

The building’s design is not just about the present, but also about the future. The design strives to anticipate future tenants’ needs of security, evolving technology, flexibility, and seamless operation.

The new Monument Drive Commuter Parking Garage and Transit Center in Fairfax, Virginia, showcases a unique aluminum cladding system manufactured and engineered by EXTECH/Exterior Technologies and finished by Linetec in textured terra cotta specialty architectural coatings.
