Part of the goal of this project was that these public-facing elements like the theater could really have a presence on the street. During the design process, Mackey Mitchell Architects explored ways to fit the complex’s solid volume within its surroundings.

Nothing has a more visual impact on a space than an impressive aquarium. This trend to water features including aquariums enhances any design aesthetic and garners an awe inspired reaction from adults and children alike.

The residences feature modern, premium finishes, while the building itself encompasses a rooftop deck offering endless views of Lake Michigan's shoreline and Chicago's iconic skyline.  

To help restore the village concept, the 31-unit, 66,580 sf, hotel is strategically placed among a disparate group of older buildings with the purpose of transforming the predictable resort experience into a newly invigorated, European-inspired mountain village.

The expansion houses two new exhibition halls that will offer visitors opportunities to engage directly with the Folger’s world-class collection, including its 82 copies of Shakespeare’s First Folio which will be displayed together to the public for the first time

The Building Code Effectiveness Grading Schedule serves as a tool for insurance companies to assess the effectiveness of building codes in mitigating risks associated with natural disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters.

The team's mission was to install a state-of-the-art waterproofing system for the hotel's below-grade parking garage. Although the project came with its fair share of hurdles, including unpredictable weather conditions, the team rose to the occasion.

The Wingspan is a state-of-the-art facility that fosters connection and community-building through year-round events such as exposition shows, large banquets, community meetings, technical tradeshows, and more. 

Design Wall panels in three custom painted colors and in grey zinc (real zinc in 1mm thickness), and Versa-Lok panels in a custom painted color and in grey zinc were used on this project.

The building's striking exterior concealed a troublesome issue - water ponding on the rooftop due to poor drainage and inadequate design, resulting in repeated water intrusion and compromising both the building's integrity and the residents' comfort.
