Sometimes the best design option is a simple approach that takes a product for what it is. In Fort Worth, Texas, Public Storage opened a new branch off I-35W. To stand out in an industrial park and make a statement from the interstate, The EN-V Collection powered by Dri-Design was selected to clad the building.

“Metal wall panels are iconic for storage facilities because they are durable,” says Bob Kelly of Robert W. Kelly Architect Inc., Fort Worth. “This storage facility owner wanted something that would make a statement for its highly visible location, and metal was the right choice for that.”

Baker Drywall, Fort Worth, installed 27,200 square feet of 0.080-inch A80 EN-V wall panels in Pewter and Silver colors. The EN-V Collection boasts the same innovative design and durability as all the Dri-Design customizable products, but it costs much less. EN-V A80 is available in 21 standard sizes with several material and color options.

“What is consistent about all our products is quality—that is something that never changes,” says Brad Zeeff, founder of Dri-Design. “Our other product lines have more material and color options than EN-V with customization available; that is the only difference when choosing EN-V.”

Cost savings is created with EN-V via purchasing power, robotics and optimization. With EN-V, the automated production process uses an entire substrate sheet. This eliminates waste, reduces the cost of production and saves building owners money.

Kelly adds, “We were looking for a no-frills metal product, and we found that. This choice provides durability, eliminates maintenance needs and is more cost effective than other options.”

This Public Storage is a 4-story building with a simple layout. The metal panels blend with brick cladding on the first floor and windows placed throughout the space. From each floor, those who rent storage units can see outside and feel connected to the space.
