The reborn Smith Elementary is a near-twin of a second K-5 school, also recently opened, to replace a 70-year-old facility elsewhere in the region. Both schools feature identical floorplans, but designers with Pfluger Architects’ Austin office wanted to give each exterior unique identities, and metal wall panels offered a great option given the profile and color options now available.
Kapture Prefab was challenged in this project by the tight schedule and completing a project surrounding by existing buildings, including one adjacent structure just 3 feet away.
This innovative tool will allow architects, general contractors and installers to virtually view construction details for Kingspan’s insulated metal wall panels from any angle, take apart and assemble panels, and choose from various colors to find the best combination for projects in real-time.
Design Wall panels in three custom painted colors and in grey zinc (real zinc in 1mm thickness), and Versa-Lok panels in a custom painted color and in grey zinc were used on this project.
In 2019, University of Cincinnati Health announced its $221 million Clifton Campus Revitalization project. The goal of the project is to create innovative environments that reflect the expertise and passion happening within its medical center every day.
With the design plan by Tucker Sadler Architects, San Diego, they took a leap to fashion a space that encourages the development of students’ talents while connecting to the community. This was done with Mayan influences, including a giant sun glyph and soaring building geometries.
