Moda Sorrento is a four-building life sciences lab and office complex located in the Sorrento Mesa sub-market of central San Diego, Calif. Situated on a 6.58-acre lot, Moda Sorrento was transformed into a highly attractive, ultramodern, Class A office campus.  All four, single-story buildings feature multiple store-front entrances, loading doors and extensive glass-line.

Moda Sorrento gained new ownership in August 2014, which initiated numerous extensive, high-end upgrades. New ownership collaborated with architect Hannah Gabriel Wells, San Diego, Calif. and general contractor Lusardi Construction Co., San Marcos, Calif. who completely transformed the property by improving the exterior façade, landscaping modernization, lobby upgrades and a new amenity “necklace” consisting of an outdoor amenity area that navigates through the buildings with activity and seating areas.

As part of the significant exterior upgrade, Sylvester Roofing, Escondido, Calif., installed over 11,800 square-feet of Laminators Incorporated Omega-Lite AMC panels to all four buildings in the simple, yet classic Bone White. Architectural Building Products, Buffalo, N.Y. distributed the Omega-Lite panels. Omega-Lite panels offer a highly decorative, strong, and durable surface finish for exterior wall surfaces. Composed of a polypropylene, corrugated core between two finished aluminum sheets, these panels are non-absorbent, water-resistant and easy to maintain. They also maintain a class A fire rating and are National Fire Protection Association 285 approved for four of Laminators proprietary installation methods.

Knowing unique geometry was the focal point of the exterior facade, Wells specifically chose Laminators Clip & Caulk installation system for the Moda Sorrento project. The Clip & Caulk installation system gives you the Rout and Return "look" without the hassle of prefabricating the panels, greatly reducing the total installed cost. This easy, field- proven method is the choice of architects and installers who are looking for a very flat look without visible fasteners. Panels can be cut on-site with few peripheral accessories needed for installation.

With its significant capital improvements and upgrades, Moda Sorrento’s 105,748-square-foot property is undoubtedly a beautifully renovated masterpiece.
