A new 290-unit apartment building called Parc Haven Apartments is one of the standout additions. It features industrial-style metal cladding that references the train tracks it adjoins, along with colorful metal panel highlights that nod to the park’s signature sculpture sited directly across the street.
The compact campus employs modular units to create individual sleeping units, most with private bathrooms, connected to other residents by shared services and community spaces. Instead of the congregate dorm-style shelters found in many U.S. cities, this approach gives each resident a private, lockable, conditioned sleeping space.
In 2022, this beloved theater was carefully restored and expanded with accessibility upgrades, preservation efforts and a stunning “glass box” façade, which helped earn the project a Metamorphosis Award from retrofit magazine for excellence in renovation.
The building had evolved with a collection of additions and renovations – the goal was to preserve many of its architectural elements, including large window openings, some of which had been infilled.
Helping define its award-winning appearance and purposeful presence, the building enclosure’s custom, aluminum-framed, high-performance glazing systems were paired with complementary fixed windows.
