Benjamin Obdyke Launches the AeroNet Wall & Roof Ventilation Mat

Next-generation approach to ensuring proper drainage and drying behind both roofing and cladding materials to protect the building envelope against moisture intrusion

Benjamin Obdyke is launching the next evolution of moisture control with the introduction of AeroNet. Designed for use with both roof and wall systems, AeroNet helps ensure proper drainage and drying behind roofing and cladding materials to protect the building envelope against moisture intrusion. It improves on existing rainscreen options with straightforward installation, uniform application from wall to roof, elimination of wood furring strips, and better compression resistance, among other benefits.

“Benjamin Obdyke revolutionized the industry with our Slicker 3D matrix wall rainscreen and Cedar Breather roof ventilation mat—both staples in many builders’ arsenals for crafting high-performance building envelopes. We challenged ourselves to go even further and develop a product for the entire envelope that offered the same advantages plus many more,” said Nick Johnson, Technical Support Specialist for Benjamin Obdyke. “AeroNet is not your typical rainscreen; it’s been introduced to shake up the market and provide a more efficient, streamlined rainscreen application.”

AeroNet combines the installation benefits of a rolled rainscreen with the compression resistance of a grid/mat system. It features a lightweight, flexible design: Simply roll onto the wall or roof and fasten with 1” cap nails or 7/8” staples—no special tools required. Because of its grid-system style, AeroNet offers higher compression strength versus entangled net matrix products. And compared to traditional wood furring strips, AeroNet is faster to install and creates a larger uninterrupted drainage plane and air gap for moisture to escape.

Designed for use under metal, wood, and composite roofing and siding, AeroNet’s flexible design and consistent plane allow for maximum drainage and drying to help eliminate moisture buildup. Its dual application for both walls and roofs makes it easy for building and design pros to specify custom whole-house weatherization systems with fewer types of materials.

“AeroNet works in concert with our full line of housewraps, roofing underlayments, and flashings to empower pros to create a tailored, whole-home solution specific to each project and climate—delivering the most complete weatherization system available,” said Johnson.

AeroNet comes in 61-foot rolls, covering 200 square feet of roofs or walls.
