Schenkel Shultz, a leading architectural and interior design studio in Central Florida, has been selected by Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) to design the new Orlando Gifted Academy (OGA) campus. This collaboration marks the beginning of a purposeful design process aimed at creating a dynamic, future-focused environment tailored to the unique needs of gifted learners in grades two through eight.
While still in the early design phase, the project aims to build upon OGA’s strong tradition of academic excellence by fostering environments that encourage intellectual curiosity, creativity and collaboration. The envisioned campus will prioritize flexible, technology-rich spaces that support a variety of learning styles and promote interdisciplinary engagement.
Key considerations will include grade-level STEM hubs, specialized labs for math, language and science, as well as spaces dedicated to the performing arts.
“Gifted learners flourish where challenge and creativity coexist,” said David Torbert, AIA, Partner at Schenkel Shultz. “We look forward to partnering with OCPS to thoughtfully craft a campus that supports their unique needs and inspires them to lead with purpose.”
Schenkel Shultz’s approach will focus on adaptability and innovation to ensure the new Orlando Gifted Academy campus reflects the school’s commitment to preparing students for the opportunities ahead in a modern and engaging learning environment.
