NeverFade Façade Restoration Coatings Are Now NeverFade Exterior Paints

APV Engineered Coatings, one of North America’s top 25 paints and coatings manufacturers, has introduced a new brand name for its flagship line of field-applied coating systems for new and existing exterior surfaces and roofs. Originally launched in 2009, NeverFade® Façade Restoration Coatings with Kynar Aquatec® PVDF resin are now NeverFade® Exterior Paints with Kynar Aquatec® PVDF resin.

“The new branding is intended to better appeal to APV’s growing base of customers and specifiers, including painting contractors, architects, engineers, building owners, facility managers, home builders, and homeowners,” said Sara Krause, NeverFade® product manager, APV Engineered Coatings. “It is further intended to avoid any potential confusion that NeverFade® is only for the building restoration and remediation industry. In fact, more and more new construction projects are turning to NeverFade® for its long-term, fade-free performance.”

Krause stressed that although the product’s name has changed, it continues to maintain its trusted high performance.

15-Year Guaranteed Fade-Free Performance

NeverFade® Exterior Paints with Kynar Aquatec® PVDF resin are formulated to revive and protect commercial and residential building facades for over 20 years. APV backs up this this claim with an industry-leading, non-prorated, 15-year product-and-labor warranty on fade resistance that is fully transferrable to building owners.

The strong fade resistance of NeverFade® Exterior Paints is due in large part to its use of Kynar Aquatec® PVDF resin. The resin has super-strong carbon-fluorine bonds that do not break down under exposure to harsh UV, thermal, and chemical conditions. This durability helps NeverFade® resist the film erosion, chalking, and color fading common with exterior-grade, acrylic-based latex paints.

“The same properties that allow NeverFade® Exterior Paints to resist color fading also allow them to resist the dirt, bugs, mold, and mildew that can turn a vibrant building exterior to a maintenance-intensive eyesore,” said Krause. “NeverFade® protects the building’s substrate from further damage, reduces maintenance time and costs, and eliminates the need for and disruption of constant re-painting.”

A Sustainable Approach to Exterior Painting

NeverFade® Exterior Paints come with eco-friendly features that are critical for today’s building and construction projects. They are easy to apply at a uniform thickness via brush, roller, or spray. Their one-part chemistry and long pot and shelf life help to reduce product waste. They keep a nice wet edge, with no hard-to-blend roller marks. In addition, they can be applied at a much lower thickness than acrylic-based paints, which need significantly higher thicknesses to offset film erosion over time. This reduces consumption of product, packaging, and related resources.

In addition, NeverFade® is a water-based paint with low VOCs and very low odor, for minimal disruption to building occupants.

“Low VOCs are an important consideration when buildings or homes are occupied during the painting process, especially when air-handling units bring outdoor air inside,” said Krause.

A Rainbow of Colors for A Variety of Substrates

NeverFade® topcoats come in three formulas. NeverFade® Original is intended for use on primed wood, stucco, vinyl, masonry, concrete, fiber cement, and EFIS. NeverFade® Metal is intended for use on primed steel, aluminum, galvanized, galvalume, and coil coated metals. NeverFade® 2K is intended for harsh corrosive and abrasion-prone environments. Also available is a line of complementary primers formulated to promote substrate and inter-coat adhesion.

“With NeverFade®, building projects can rely on one brand for all surface substrates and applications, including facades, curtainwalls, standing seam metal and composite roofing, railings, decorative features, overhangs, window profiles, mullions, and door frames,” said Krause.

Unlike paint manufacturers that offer a limited array of off-the-shelf colors, APV Engineered Coatings custom-formulates each batch of NeverFade® with complex inorganic pigments to meet the customer’s exact color specifications. This allows the building or home to reflect the owner’s brand standards, school colors, or any color aesthetic they desire.

“Builders and project specifiers are better able to design with bright and bold colors, secure in the knowledge that those colors will remain true for the long term,” said Krause.
