 Changes are fast approaching for the building industry.  

 The International Codes, or I-Codes, have served as models for almost all state and local codes in the United States since 1994.  

International Codes can be confusing. The 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) includes new standards for almost every component in the building envelope, and these standards are further increased in the new International Green Construction Code (IgCC), which serves as an overlay code. 

2012 has ushered in a new era of building code changes, with the enhancements focused primarily on higher levels of energy efficiency.
