The Rainscreen Association in North America (RAiNA) hosted its sold-out 2025 RAiNA Conference on November 5, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, drawing a diverse audience of building enclosure professionals, architects, engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and consultants from across North America.

The one-day event showcased the continued growth and influence of RAiNA as the leading organization dedicated to advancing rainscreen assemblies and high-performance building envelopes. Attendees enjoyed a full day of technical presentations, expert panels, and collaborative discussions focused on the future of rainscreen design, performance, and education.

The conference provided a platform for open dialogue and shared learning around topics such as system design, material innovation, sustainability, and code development. The sold-out status reflected the increasing interest and investment in rainscreen technology as a key component of resilient, energy-efficient construction.

A major highlight of the conference was the presentation of the 2025 RAiNA Awards, which recognize individuals and projects that exemplify excellence, leadership, and innovation in advancing the science and practice of rainscreen assemblies.

Award recipients included:

  • Excellence in Leadership Award: Cortney Fried, Alex Moshenberg, and Annie Lo
  • Outstanding Contribution to Education Award: Steven Gaynor
  • Volunteer Excellence Award: Graham Finch
  • Staff Excellence Award: Jenna Xec
  • Collaboration Award: Nicholas Sabol

The awards underscore the commitment of RAiNA members and volunteers to building knowledge, fostering collaboration, and advancing technical excellence within the industry. Each recipient was celebrated for their unique contributions — from leadership and volunteer service to research, education, and organizational impact.

In addition, RAiNA recognized outstanding project achievements through the RAiNA Design Awards, honoring buildings that demonstrate the benefits of well-designed rainscreen assemblies in energy performance, durability, and aesthetics. This year’s winners were:

  • New Construction: Humboldt Park Wellness Center
  • Retrofit: Emil & Grace Shihadeh Innovation Center

Both projects exemplify how thoughtful rainscreen design enhances building performance and contributes to the broader goals of sustainability and occupant comfort.

The 2025 RAiNA Conference also served as an opportunity for members and industry partners to connect, exchange ideas, and strengthen relationships within the growing rainscreen community. Attendees left energized by the level of engagement and the shared vision for advancing best practices across North America.

The success of this year’s event reinforces RAiNA’s ongoing mission to serve as a trusted, collaborative platform for professionals involved in rainscreen design and construction. Through its training programs, technical committees, standards development, and educational outreach, RAiNA continues to shape the conversation around high-performance building enclosure systems.
