DuPont Expands ArmorWall System with ArmorDry Exterior Drainage Mat for Lath-Based Claddings
New drainage solution for commercial exterior claddings advances building envelope performance with improved moisture management

DuPont Performance Building Solutions announced the release of the DuPont™ ArmorDry™ Exterior Drainage Mat, a new product for use behind lath-based commercial exterior claddings. DuPont ArmorDry limits inward moisture movement and reduces solar heat gain while promoting high-performance moisture management as part of the DuPont ArmorWall System. The ArmorWall System, an innovative 5-in-1 exterior wall solution for the building envelope, integrates five critical building enclosure performance attributes into a single system.
The addition of ArmorDry further strengthens the system’s moisture management capabilities by providing a non-permeable 3/16" ventilated airspace for water drainage and air circulation behind lath-based commercial exterior claddings like stucco and adhered stone. ArmorDry can also support and improve the performance of many direct-applied claddings like fiber cement, terracotta tiles, or slate shingles.
ArmorDry is constructed with a heavy-duty, non-permeable black corrugation attached to a gray filter fabric scrim, delivering both durability and reliable performance. By creating a ventilated airspace, the mat drains water quickly while allowing air circulation and drying behind exterior lath-based claddings, helping reduce the risk of mold growth, water damage, and premature façade deterioration. The robust corrugation minimizes compression during installation, ensuring consistent performance across the wall assembly, while its lightweight design makes it easy to cut, handle, and install. In addition, the ArmorWall System included ArmorDry™ in its most recent successful NFPA 285 fire tests, helping to create a safe, high performance building envelope.
Engineered to help maximize building envelope performance while streamlining construction, ArmorWall combines structural sheathing, fire resistance, continuous air and water-resistive barriers, and ultra-low GWP continuous insulation into a single panel. Unlike traditional multi-layer assemblies, ArmorWall allows claddings to attach directly to the panel, simplifying installation. The Magnesium Oxide (MgO)-based sheathing of DuPont ArmorWall provides exceptional strength and durability, fire resistance, reduced thermal bridging, and resistance to moisture, mold, and warping. The system delivers high R-value insulation, façade design flexibility, can enable faster installation, and now, with the introduction of ArmorDry, the ArmorWall System further enhances moisture management, protecting claddings and extending the life of the wall system.
"DuPont is known for expertise in building science and innovation, and the introduction of ArmorDry is another step forward in advancing high-performance building envelopes," said Victoria Raineri, Specialty Market Manager at DuPont Performance Building Solutions. "ArmorWall now provides improved moisture management while maintaining façade design flexibility, delivering a complete, reliable solution for modern building projects."
