Veteran Retreat Project Takes Shape in Las Vegas, Bound for Montana

METALCON, the global event for the metal construction and design industry, is taking its mission beyond the show floor this year with the launch of Eagles Landing — a steel-framed barndominium designed to become a permanent healing retreat for combat-wounded veterans in Hall, Mont.

The 2,500-square-foot structure will first take shape inside the Las Vegas Convention Center during METALCON 2025, October 21–23. Prefabricated and assembled on site by Scottsdale Construction Systems and a team of industry partners, the project offers attendees a rare opportunity to walk through a full-scale steel-framed home and learn about the materials, technologies and people behind it.

“This project goes beyond showcasing products — it’s about using our collective skills and resources to serve a greater purpose,” said Judy Geller, vice president of trade shows for PSMJ Resources, Inc., producers of METALCON. “Together with our partners, we’re creating something lasting for those who have sacrificed so much.”

Following the show, the steel frame will be disassembled, transported and rebuilt on a prepared site in rural Montana, where it will become a sanctuary for veterans seeking peace and renewal. The site, known as Eagles Landing, will offer access to fishing, hiking and other outdoor activities in a serene natural setting.

The initiative is being delivered in partnership with the Military Warriors Support Foundation, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that provides mortgage-free homes and vehicles to combat-wounded veterans and Gold Star families. Additional founding partners include The Barndominium Company, Sheridan Metal Resources, The Expo Group and Evergreen Roofing & Construction.

The barndominium’s design was led by Stacee Lynn, founder of The Barndominium Company, who brought both her design expertise and deep personal ties to the military community to the project.

Throughout the event, METALCON attendees will be invited to tour the structure, connect with the builders, and learn how they can support the mission through donations of materials, services or financial contributions.
