NCARB Releases New Podcast Highlighting Data Trends in Architectural Practice

The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) has released a new podcast exploring key trends and programmatic shifts shaping architectural licensure. Through interviews with architects, licensure candidates, and subject matter experts, Inside NCARB by the Numbers highlights the data driving the evolution of licensure standards and examines the impact programmatic changes have on individuals working toward licensure.
Hosted by NCARB’s Vice President of Marketing & Communications Andy McIntyre, Inside NCARB by the Numbers is a six-part podcast series that captures the human experiences behind the trends shared in the organization’s annual data publication, NCARB by the Numbers. Episode one, which unpacks the impact of NCARB’s recent efforts to make the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) more accessible, is available now.
“Through expert insights and real stories from professionals at a variety of career stages, this podcast highlights the ‘why’ behind the ‘what,’” says McIntyre. “From the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic to the future of succession planning in an aging profession, this podcast has something for everyone.”
The podcast will release a new episode weekly. Each episode dives into the details behind a different aspect of the path to licensure, including the personal and professional factors that influence the time it takes to become a licensed architect. Interspersed with data insights from NCARB’s staff experts, the podcast features current licensure candidates and architects who share how they overcame challenges on the path to licensure, offer advice for emerging professionals, and celebrate recent policy shifts that encourage greater equity and accessibility.
Produced with the assistance of Gabl Media, Inside NCARB by the Numbers pulls trends from the organization’s annual data publication, which offers exclusive insights regarding the current state of the profession, pipeline of future architects, and demographics. NCARB will release the next edition of NCARB by the Numbers in summer 2025.
