Acentech announced Ioana Pieleanu, former co-Director of the firm’s Architectural Acoustics group, has taken on a new role as Principal and Creative Director. Ioana is a multifaceted acoustician, musician, and educator. Her combined talents and decades of industry experience are a solid foundation for the new business strategy efforts and creative storytelling she will undertake as Creative Director and head of the firm’s marketing and business development team. Ioana has a strong track record of developing business and cultivating clients, and a keen ear for a good story: our new innovation portal, The Lab @ Acentech, blossomed from the seed of an idea she brought to the firm a few years ago.

As a practicing acoustician and project Principal, Ioana enjoys guiding clients through master planning and feasibility studies, as well as working with architects on full building designs. She acts as an effective interpreter between end-users and the design community. Her project experience includes performing arts centers and music schools, auditoriums, critical listening spaces, K-12 schools, university buildings, as well as civic and commercial facilities.

Throughout her career, Ioana has made life-long learning (and educating others on the importance of acoustical design) a priority, from teaching acoustics at Berklee College of Music, to attending a graduate level course in Auditory Neuroscience at MIT, and participating in the international symposium, Moving Boundaries. She is a current Co-Chair of the Boston Society of Architects Cultural Facilities Network; and a member of the Acoustical Society of America.
