ASTM Publishes Bendheim EPDs Expanding Sustainable Building Choices for Specifiers

Bendheim’s new third-party verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) offer the architectural community a broad range of sustainable glass and installation systems.  

“Bendheim’s Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), published by ASTM as the program operator, comply with internationally recognized ISO 14025 and ISO 21930 standards. This allows architects, designers, and builders to confidently incorporate our glass products into sustainable projects that meet stringent green building requirements,” Bendheim Sustainability Program manager, Uarda Hoti, states.

LEED, WELL and BREEAM Green certifications prioritize third-party verified EPDs for compliance with credits. “Achieving EPDs published by ASTM represents a significant milestone for Bendheim, underscoring our commitment to transparency and environmental stewardship,” Hoti said. 

The new glass EPDs coupled with Bendheim's Design Assist approach ensure specifiers can incorporate glass and systems that meet the highest standards of environmental performance and visual appeal. The EPDs provide a product’s environmental impact throughout its life cycle, enabling architects to confidently integrate materials aligning with green building goals and design excellence. Bendheim’s Design Assist expertise is an additional benefit.

“By offering third-party verified EPDs for nearly our entire product catalog, we empower architects to select materials that are not only aesthetically superior but also environmentally responsible,” Bendheim President Donald Jayson said. “Our Design Assist services help architects feel confident that the materials they’re specifying are properly vetted for environmental impact, ensuring each product meets both environmental and ISO standards.”

In 2023, Bendheim introduced its “Building a Clear Future” initiative to drive sustainability across all aspects of its operations. This commitment to transparency and environmental responsibility is part of a larger effort to minimize the ecological footprint of both its operations and product offerings.
