TYPAR Introduces Industry-First Clear Acrylic Flashing

TYPAR.png
September 30, 2024

TYPAR®, a leading provider of high-performance building wrap, construction tape, flashing and accessories, is introducing the industry’s first Clear Acrylic Flashing. This game-changing product was developed in response to evolving builders’ needs and emerging building code changes requiring better visibility of the nail and screw fin patterns on windows during window installations and inspections.

“The development of Clear Acrylic Flashing is a great example of TYPAR’s commitment to listening to our customers’ needs and finding innovative and time-saving solutions,” said Soujanya Muralidhara, product manager, TYPAR. “This will certainly be huge for builders and contractors in the southern U.S., but there are many benefits of using a clear acrylic window and door flashing that can make a big difference throughout the rest of the U.S. and Canada.”

Unlike opaque alternatives, TYPAR Clear Acrylic Flashing is the only flashing on the market that allows the pattern on the window nailing fins to be completely visible upon installation, ensuring proper attachment and preventing costly callbacks. This is especially advantageous on large-scale multi-family and commercial projects where approval of numerous window openings is required.

“TYPAR Clear Flashing pairs ever-evolving market and code needs with innovation that addresses, at its core, one of the fundamental challenges impacting the construction industry—an ongoing labor shortage,” said Addison Seay, brand manager, TYPAR. “We are proud to be a part of a grassroots effort to bring innovative products to market that will help builders alleviate these challenges and streamline their projects.”

The transparency of TYPAR Clear Acrylic Flashing is achieved with TYPAR’s premium, advanced acrylic adhesive that is waterproof, self-healing and able to be applied at temperatures down to 20°F (-6.7°C). With a split-release liner for easy film removal, it makes a once tedious job faster and easier.

TYPAR Clear Acrylic Flashing has several other key features and benefits, including:

  • It meets the voluntary AAMA 711-22 industry standard for flashing tapes, which ensures that when properly installed, the flashing will keep moisture, water, and air from infiltrating the building structure.
  • It is UV-resistant for up to nine months.
  • It’s available in 4” x 75’, 6” x 75’, 9” x 75’ and 12” x 75’ rolls.

Like all our products, TYPAR Clear Acrylic Flashing has excellent individual product specs, plus the advantage of providing elevated performance when used together with our full system. As the latest addition to the comprehensive TYPAR Weather Protection System, Clear Acrylic Flashing has been tested to provide excellent adhesion to TYPAR building wraps and other building materials. As such, Clear Acrylic Flashing is also covered by TYPAR’s industry-leading lifetime limited system and labor warranty.
