1.jpg
April 18, 2022

Architecture, design, and strategy firm NELSON Worldwide announces a strategic alliance with Atlanta-based architecture, master planning, urban design, and branding consultancy firm TATE+HANSEN. The innovative collaboration of TATE+HANSEN and NELSON Worldwide, also recognized as THNW, leverages the strength, experience, and relationships of TATE+HANSEN’s minority-owned influence to drive a new perspective for design services and work in the marketplace regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion. Together, the firms will share their global presence, services, knowledge, and relationships to amplify the voices of underrepresented minority groups in the industry.

“I committed to our employees, our clients, and our communities to drive actionable and meaningful change here at home and nationally. With studios in more than 20 locations across the country, our presence in Atlanta is one of the largest on a local and national scale,” says Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NELSON Worldwide, John “Ozzie” Nelson Jr. “Our partnership with TATE+HANSEN will facilitate larger conversations in the community surrounding diversity and inclusion, and will be followed by long-awaited change.”

With the conception of THNW, NELSON has invited TATE+HANSEN to leverage the network that it has built. Driving the alliance is a need for actionable change in every location where NELSON operates nationally. With Atlanta being one of their most significant locations in the Southeast United States, the newfound partnership is a way to spark a sea of change within real estate, master planning, urban design, architecture, and interior design. The firm’s leadership is: Dr. Okey Anueyiagu, Chairman and H. Hansen Howard, CEO and Creative Director, and other key members of their team, are critical conduits and interpreters who ensure that the perspective of all communities is front and center.

“This partnership will establish a platform to better serve the City of Atlanta and other cities and communities across the United States and internationally,” says Herman Howard, Design Principal at TATE+HANSEN. “It will help drive a new perspective for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the marketplace, our work, profession, and most importantly our clients.”

With over 30 years of experience and offices in Atlanta, London, Nigeria, and now India, TATE+HANSEN impacts the communities it serves by making a difference in master planning, urban design, and architecture with a keen eye toward inclusion and paradigms that promote equality. TATE+HANSEN’s unique relationship with the Atlanta community and recently throughout the westside of Atlanta and downtown, paired with NELSON’s growing local office and impact, will strengthen the relationship with historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and numerous growing and transforming communities. Recently, NELSON won prestigious project assignments, including the mixed-use development at the Mercedes Benz Stadium, the recently completed Bellyard hotel, Riverwalk in Jacksonville, and many other major projects.
