The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) proudly joins other organizations around the world in recognizing March 8, 2022, as International Women’s Day. The event strives to make gains in areas such as: increasing awareness about issues impacting women's equality, calling out inequality while working to forge positive action, recognizing where important gains are being made, and celebrating women's achievements and accomplishments. PCI applauds and supports all such efforts.
The PCI Industry Diversity Committee formed four years ago to provide programming to celebrate women in the precast concrete industry. Its mission is to create awareness around the value of diversity and an atmosphere of inclusivity in the precast, prestressed concrete industry. The committee includes a diverse group of members who are driving this initiative with passion and commitment.
“I want to work with members to achieve the goal of creating a platform of support and resources for diverse people and the companies wanting to hire them,” said Committee Chair Natalie Martin, Technical Sales Manager with Cresset Chemical. “We are past envisioning and talking about it. It's time to take the steps on becoming leaders in the construction industry and make PCI the first sector of construction to accept diversity at all levels.”
In addition, every year at the PCI Convention, a Women in Precast reception is held for female precast concrete producer members, associate members, and other guests. Women discuss common issues, successes, and challenges in this relaxing and enjoyable annual event.
