EYP Architecture & Engineering has named Mariah Gresko as the 2019-2020 recipient of the firm’s esteemed Tradewell Fellowship Program. The program offers aspiring health care architects with an opportunity to work closely with senior medical planners and gain career-building experience. Fellows are offered one year of full-time employment, mentorship from previous fellows and the opportunity to attend a national health care conference. EYP’s Tradewell Fellowship, now celebrating its 22nd year, has been an important milestone in the careers of its dedicated and successful alumni.

Gresko joins EYP’s Houston office having earned her Bachelor of Science in Design in Architectural Studies from Arizona State University, and a Master of Architecture, with a specialization in Healthcare Design, from Clemson University. During her academic career, Gresko was a graduate research assistant for Clemson University’s Architecture + Health program. Additionally, she worked as an architecture intern at Payette in Boston, Massachusetts, Lightvox Studio in Phoenix, Arizona, and at Arizona State University in collaboration with their Biomimicry Center Program.

“The first-hand experience gained from working with medical designers and planners, attending client meetings, and pursuing an individual research topic are just a few of the reasons I became interested in the Tradewell Fellowship,” said Gresko. “I’m extremely fortunate for this opportunity at EYP to grow and gain invaluable industry knowledge that will further prepare me for a career in the architecture industry.”

Prior to applying for the Tradewell Fellowship, Gresko represented the Clemson School of Architecture, Architecture + Health program at PDC Student Design Charrette in 2019. She also participated in the STERIS Student Design Charrette at the Healthcare Design Conference, which is organized by the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Additionally, Gresko is a member of Phi Kappa Phi honors society, and a recipient of the APA Tom Cory Scholarship and the Soprema Scholarship.

“As a former Tradewell Fellow, I understand just how unique the program is and how it prepares young professionals for a successful future in health care design,” said EYP Medical Planner and Tradewell Curator, Renee Fiala, AIA. “Mariah will make a great addition to our team, and I’m excited for the perspectives and abilities she will bring, as well as the growth she’ll encounter during this program.”
