Gould Evans Appoints New Principal in San Francisco Studio

Breaking News 4
May 24, 2017

Gould Evans announced the appointment of Jeffrey Till, AIA as a Principal in its San Francisco studio. Till brings to our firm more than 25 years of architectural and master planning experience for complex urban projects, a keen interest in sustainable design, and deep roots in the Bay Area design and planning community. As a Principal, he will extend our Bay Area presence with increased urban planning and design capabilities, enhance the rigor and innovation of our sustainable design approach, and broaden our community connections.

Till will join San Francisco Principals Bob Baum and Douglas Thornley in directing design work, leading business development, and guiding strategic direction and growth of the San Francisco studio. His hire underscores Gould Evans' commitment to our Bay Area community, as it comes on the heels of our Mid-Market studio renovation which includes a new storefront meeting space available for community use.

Jeffrey Till appointed as Principal in the Gould Evans San Francisco studio.

"We look forward to an exciting collaboration," said Bob Baum, "as we continue to build our urban design practice in the Bay Area. Jeff's talents and pursuit of design excellence will inspire our team to create buildings which respond to the urban context, while exceeding expectations for sustainability and energy efficiency. We believe strongly that design thinking can be the vehicle to solve broader social and technical problems, and we know that Jeff's presence in our San Francisco studio will keep us at the forefront of our community's design leadership."

Till's interest and depth of experience in sustainable design is drawn from his architectural and master planning experience across North America, Asia, and Europe, and from his deep roots in the Bay Area design and planning community. He joins Gould Evans after working locally as a Design Principal for Perkins+Will and has also been a design and sustainability leader at Woods Bagot,  and director at William McDonough+Partners. He has recently led design on the first phase of a planned net-zero energy Headquarters Campus for the San Francisco Airport; the large-scale mixed use Eau Claire Market Redevelopment in Calgary; a high-rise residential tower in Oakland; and the Green Dragon Lake Master Plan in Beijing, China.

Till is very involved in the Bay Area community, serving on the SPUR San Francisco Board of Directors and Project Review Advisory Board, and is active in the AIA San Francisco Chapter.

"Our Bay Region is such an incredible place to be working right now, with sustainable urbanism and technology really coming together to address the challenges ahead," said Jeffrey Till. "The Gould Evans team is so well positioned to respond and help lead, with a range of exemplary projects in housing, workplace, and education…I am absolutely excited to be part of it, and have a positive impact in my own community. Our team has an truly exceptional alignment of intellectual curiosity, values and skills, creating the ideal environment to grow forward-looking design and thought leadership."

Gould Evans is currently working on a range of projects that will contribute to San Francisco's urban environment, including a new mid-rise residential tower at 30 Otis Street in the Mid-Market Hub, and a new eight-story mixed-use building at San Francisco State University, which anchors a major redesign of the adjacent Holloway Avenue streetscape to accommodate a new light rail station and create a pedestrian-friendly campus main street.
