SLAM and Pendulum Named Official Sponsors of ECAC

8-24-16 SLAM/ECAC
August 24, 2016

The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM), a national fully-integrated multi-disciplinary architecture firm, has partnered with Pendulum of Kansas City, Mo. to become the official architecture/engineering/construction (A/E/C) industry sponsors of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). In the 77 years since its inception, the ECAC has emerged as the nation's largest Conference, ranging in location from Maine to Georgia, and westerly to Missouri. In 2015-16, the ECAC hosted nearly 100 championships in men’s and women’s sports as the sponsors of over 5,800 varsity teams and 111,000 student-athletes.

For more information, visit www.ecacsports.com.

“We’re truly excited and honored to partner with Pendulum as the official A/E/C sponsor of the ECAC,” said Rick Bouchard, a senior associate of SLAM. “This sponsorship is the next step in our two firms forging a collaborative relationship, helping deliver state-of-the-art facilities for professional, semi-professional, and collegiate athletes and programs across the country.”

SLAM and Pendulum have extensive experience in the design of sports and recreational facilities including field houses, athletic centers, athletic fields, outdoor courts, stadiums, arenas, locker rooms, and physical therapy/training facilities. Most recently, the firms have teamed on the design of Jimmy John’s Field in Utica, Mich., a $15 million 2,500-seat baseball stadium; Willy Horton Field of Dreams—the new headquarters for the Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL), a youth training center in Detroit, Mich. that is the historic site of Navin Field/Tiger Stadium; and Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford, Conn., a $60+ million, 6,000+ seat AA-Minor League Baseball stadium. SLAM is also the design architect of the Notre Dame Campus Crossroads project involving the design of a $450 million, 823,000-square-foot expansion of the historic football stadium—the largest building project in the University’s history.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with SLAM and Pendulum,” said ECAC Interim Commissioner and Chief Financial Officer John Rollins. “SLAM and Pendulum have established themselves as an industry leader in the design and construction of sports facilities of all sizes. We look forward to helping SLAM and Pendulum share their extensive expertise with ECAC member institutions at all levels, for projects big and small."

With a specialty in the design of sports and recreational projects, Pendulum has also designed award-winning ballparks and stadiums across the country including the recent renovations at Autozone Park in Memphis, Tenn.; Neuroscience Group Field in Appleton, Wis.; Holly Spring Park in Holly Springs, N.C.; The Corn Crib in Bloomington/Normal, Ill.; and Athletic Park in Wausau, Wis.

“Pendulum’s partnership with The S/L/A/M Collaborative is an example of what is possible when like-minded organizations willingly share creative space with no preconceived notions about size or background, strictly good people collaborating in a business space that they are passionate about” said Jonathan Cole, AIA, NCARB, NOMA, founding principal at Pendulum. “We hope to compliment the mission of ECAC, foster continued growth, and influence/improve their member’s built environments; we are extremely excited and honored by the opportunity to serve such a prestigious conference.”
