October in New York is a time of celebration for lovers of architecture and design, thanks to the biggest annual citywide design festival in the United States.

Planning for the sixth annual Archtober Architecture and Design Month is well underway. AIA New York Chapter is working with 50-plus participating organizations to arrange scores of activities, talks, tours, walks, shows, films, installations and exhibitions throughout New York City's five boroughs.

As always, headquarters for Archtober will be located at the Center for Architecture, on LaGuardia Place in Greenwich Village. The Archtober Lounge—this year featuring a cave-like installation of polyhedral walls and ceilings—will welcome visitors throughout October with guides, program information and a dramatic meet-up spot for festival-goers.

And as always, Archtober will feature 31 "Building of the Day" tours—the festival's most popular event series—one each day of the month at a different awe-inspiring, "only in New York" location.

A major draw for archi-tourists and locals alike, Archtober is a celebration of the impact of design, in a city celebrated the world over for its architecture.
