Lovers of great architecture are counting down to Saturday, October 1, the official start of Archtober 2016—the original citywide, monthlong festival of design and architecture.

Now they can start making plans: the AIA New York Chapter has revealed its much-anticipated Building of the Day lineup. For 31 days, Archtober hosts invited tours of the latest architectural highlights in the city's five boroughs. Details are now live on the redesigned and just-launched Archtober 2016 website: archtober.org.

TOUR LINEUP
For the uninitiated, "Building of the Day" tours are daily lunchtime guided visits to New York City's most notable built spaces—some led by the architects themselves. Examples for Archtober 2016 include:
            - 520 West 28th St. (a new work by the late Zaha Hadid): Oct. 24
            - The Lowline (an underground park by Raad Studio): Oct. 2
            - Sanitation Garage & Salt Shed (by Dattner and WXY architecture + urban design): Oct. 11
            - St. Patrick's Cathedral (newly renovated and reopened): Oct. 19
            - Hudson Yards (the huge midtown development): Oct. 28

Archtober organizers at AIA New York Chapter just launched the official festival website earlier today. For visitors and archi-tourists seeking details and looking to stay up-to-the-minute on the Archtober 2016 program, the website Archtober.org is the best way to hear about scores of activities, talks, tours, walks, shows, films, installations and exhibitions on offer this year, thanks to 50-plus participating organizations.
