Valspar Celebrates 50 Years of Fluropon

Introduced in 1965, Valspar’s Fluropon coating was the first 70 percent PVDF architectural coating to be introduced to the market. This year, Valspar celebrates 50 years of quality, durability, and continued innovation. First available in only five colors, customers can now choose from a Fluropon portfolio of more than 20,000 colors, which include solar reflective and ENERGY STAR™-compliant formulations and special effects. Featured on monumental buildings all over the world, Fluropon has become a staple in the coatings industry and will continue to be for the next 50 years.

WeatherXL Coating

WeatherXL was created to withstand the elements, even in the harshest conditions. A focus on gloss retention and extreme resistance to chipping and marring, Valspar also offers the same durable product in an aesthetically pleasing crinkle finish. WeatherXL Crinkle Finish offers the same durability as WeatherXL and has been responsively designed to create a shifting and shimmering effect, adding depth and a textured appearance where it is applied. Available in a wide range of colors, WeatherXL meets current solar reflective (SR) standards for ENERGY STAR ratings.

Fluropon Effects Coating

The newest addition to the Fluropon product family is Valspar’s Fluropon Effects line, composed of three color families: Nova, Rustica and Kameleon. The unique line offers dimensional colors that feature an additional layer of sparkle, more richly saturated colors and color-shifting pigments. The new Fluropon Effects line transforms the concept of color and provides the design community with another distinctive option. The Fluropon Effects line is the first of its kind to offer dimensional features and vibrant hues in a 70 percent PVDF coating.

Graffiti-Resistant System

Valspar recently aligned with Graffiti Removal Services (GRS) to create a sustainable, cost-effective, ASTM-compliant graffiti-resistant system. The removal system has been tested and approved for all Valspar coil and extrusion products including FEVE, SMP and Polyester coatings. The robust properties of Valspar’s coatings combined with the innovative cleaning system provided by GRS means that this solution not only applies to future projects, but to existing installations with Valspar coatings.
