Sefaira, the leader in software for high-performance building design, announced that it now offers customizable daylighting graphics and enhanced daylighting analysis including design guidance. These new tools deliver real-time daylighting analysis and visualization directly within the Trimble SketchUp and Autodesk Revit Architecture design environments.Sefaira

Sefaira recognizes that daylighting analysis is especially powerful when it combines valuable design insights with high-quality graphical outputs that enable better communication with clients. Sefaira’s new daylighting assets include:

·Sefaira Customizable Daylighting Graphics: Exportable graphics for both annual and point-in-time analysis, allowing designers to add powerful visuals to client presentations that can communicate a design’s performance and help explain the experience within a space at certain points in time. Designers can customize reports to grid, contour and gradient views, depending on their needs.

·Sefaira Enhanced Daylighting Analysis: Guidance, such as a clear visualization of under- and over lit spaces, allows designers to make better decisions around glazing, shading and façade design, without requiring knowledge of building physics. The integration of daylighting visualization with Sefaira’s plugins allows designers to directly understand the implications of their decisions on a building’s energy usage.

Sefaira is Working Closely with Designers to Create Design Tools that Add Highest Value

Sefaira is known for its speed of development and strong customer focus. The new daylighting features were developed based on detailed interviews with industry practitioners during the first quarter of this year.

According to one of the interviewees, Jim Henderson from Moseley Architects: “Daylighting is becoming huge. Right now we are only able to evaluate it during later stages of the design process. When we can evaluate the performance of a building earlier in the process using Sefaira, it will help us achieve LEED later down the road. Graphical outputs are important for this: for example, it is helpful that Sefaira can give us a plan view with boundary lines early in the process so that we can understand and correct the areas that are not meeting the LEED requirements.”

Sefaira’s CEO, Mads Jensen, said: “Sefaira’s mission is to empower every designer to create inspiring, high-performing buildings. To achieve this, designers need to be able to make good design decisions and also explain and defend them. Our new daylighting features address these demands, and further accelerate our work towards helping designers make great design decisions and to communicate these decisions to their clients. They are a product of our close collaboration with leading design firms: this is what enables us to innovate at this rate.”
