Tremco Proglaze ETA Selected as a BuildingGreen Top 10 Product

November 14, 2012

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Proglaze® ETA Engineered Transition Assemblies from Tremco Commercial Sealants & Waterproofing has been selected as one of BuildingGreen’s Top-10 products for the coming year by BuildingGreen, Inc., publisher of GreenSpec and Environmental Building News (EBN). The eleventh annual awards, announced at the U.S. Green Building Council’s Greenbuild Conference in San Francisco, are BuildingGreen’s editors’ picks of the most innovative green building products, drawn from product reviews published in GreenSpec and EBN.

“In selecting this year’s products, we looked for companies addressing resilience, energy efficiency, thoughtful use of materials, cutting-edge system optimization, and other needs,” said BuildingGreen founder and GreenSpec executive editor Alex Wilson.

The 2013 selections highlight the role of building science and system-level thinking in driving today’s green product innovations. The LEED rating systems also continue to encourage development of green products; GreenSpec users can find products organized by LEED credits as well as by building category and the CSI MasterFormat structure.

Tremco’s winning product, Proglaze® ETA, is a transition assembly composed of pre-engineered, finished aluminum and silicone materials that are mechanically attached to the window and/or wall’s structural framing to insure a durable connection and seal. The system’s design absorbs thermal movement and wind-loading stresses. The translucent silicone material allows the installer and/or inspector to see through the gasket to verify the recommended amount of sealant is properly applied to ensure an effective seal is achieved, while the ribs of the gasket’s design ensures a minimum sealant thickness. Proglaze® ETA is a patented assembly of systems and connections that is fully compatible with most window sealants and glazing materials and has been tested to provide documented performance when used in conjunction with ExoAir® air barrier materials.

Proglaze® ETA is commonly applied as an air and vapor barrier transition assembly for connecting continuously between the window and/or wall openings and the adjacent air and vapor barrier materials. The system can also be used to span and seal across irregular window geometries. Proglaze ETA Connections can be used at junctions between other assemblies within the building envelope where spanning of voids is commonplace, such as roof to wall, floor deflection joints, expansion and control joints or any other location where a degree of movement is anticipated.

GreenSpec is the leading national directory of green building products. Products are selected based on criteria developed over the past 20 years. Manufacturers do not pay to be listed in GreenSpec, and neither GreenSpec nor Environmental Building News carry advertising; both are supported by users of the information. “Our policy of not accepting money from product manufacturers allows us to be objective in our review of products,” said Wilson. The GreenSpec product database is also available online as part of the BuildingGreen Suite.
