A new chapter has been formed in Iowa to provide a local venue for education and networking opportunities for those involved in the building envelope industry. The Iowa Chapter of RCI, Inc. is a non-profit affiliate of RCI Inc., an international association of professional consultants, architects, and engineers who specialize in the specification and design of roofing, waterproofing and exterior wall systems.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A new chapter has been formed in Iowa to provide a local venue for education and networking opportunities for those involved in the building envelope industry. The Iowa Chapter of RCI, Inc. is a non-profit affiliate of RCI Inc., an international association of professional consultants, architects, and engineers who specialize in the specification and design of roofing, waterproofing and exterior wall systems. The purpose of the chapter is to provide a medium at the local level for the advancement of the objectives of RCI, and to promote closer relations and cooperation among the professions that are engaged in, or directly connected with, the building industry in Iowa. Membership is open to roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall consultants, contractors, and manufacturers, as well as private building owners, facility managers, and property managers. Government facility managers are also welcome to join. The organizing Board of Directors include:

  • Greg Thirnbeck, vice president of D. C. Taylor Co., a national commercial and industrial roofing contractor headquartered in Cedar Rapids
  • Alan Benson, president of Alan Stevens Associates, Inc., a national roof management and consulting firm headquartered in Cedar Rapids
  • Alvin Nunnikhoven, senior consultant with Benchmark Inc., a roof and pavement-consulting firm headquartered in Cedar Rapids
  • Mitchell Kelchen, consultant with Shive-Hattery, an architecture/engineering design firm with offices in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and West Des Moines

Thirnbeck will serve as president, Benson as vice president, Nunnikhoven as treasurer, and Kelchen as secretary.
