An intermediate review of the multiple factors that affect the evaluation, selection, pricing and installation of architectural metal cladding systems. These factors include the different types of metal roof and wall systems, materials used in manufacturing, fastener types as well as environmental issues such as saltwater and wind speed. Structural issues including building framing, roof slope, curving, perforation and more are addressed. Finally, a review of cost assessment and how it’s affected by sustainability needs, installation concerns and jobsite best practices rounds out this course.

Learning objectives: 

  1. Discuss the different types of architectural metal systems available for roof and wall applications.
  2. Assess general design conditions that impact architectural metal system choice, including environment, building type, and performance goals.
  3. Evaluate how structural framing, insulation, slope, and other requirements impact architectural metal system selection.
  4. Identify the proper application and installation method to ensure the selected architectural metal system and building project work together to satisfy performance and design goals.
