Roofing Contractor is now accepting nominations for our Contractor of the Year award, which will be announced in November.

Last week I received an email with the headline, “Have a Safe Work Week” from blogger extraordinaire John Sonnehalter. John was promoting North American Occupational Safety & Health Week, which ran May 2-8. I had great intentions of blogging on this topic during the designated week. 

I read a lot of economic reports and construction forecasts, and some of them have less than optimistic lately, if you know what I mean.

Ray Smith, the Managing Director for AppliCad, asks the question: Why Green? And he makes some very interesting points.

I recently attended my first-ever security industry trade show, ISC West, which took place at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas March 24-26. The show, which connects security product manufacturers with integrators/installers/security officers, was encouraging on several levels. 

We started ARW in 2006 with the intent of providing roofing and waterproofing technical information for architects and engineers. The publication initially appeared as an e-zine that was produced four times a year. The publication is now produced six times a year with three e-zines and three print publications.

Our April issue of Roofing Contractor will feature an article on two roofing contractors who invented and patented a residential solar kit. They hope their product will help other roofing contractors enter the world of solar roofing. 

A year ago, I told a co-worker that Twitter was a fad. It would not last, I pronounced, because it was fluff and provided no clear benefit. Who cares where tweeters are eating lunch?
