FK Architecture celebrated the groundbreaking for two affordable housing communities in Austin, Texas: Bailey at Berkman and Bailey at Stassney, on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at 5516 Humming Bird Lane. Developed by National CORE, the projects represent a continued investment in expanding affordable and supportive housing opportunities across the Austin market.
Designed by FK Architecture, the two communities will deliver a combined 208 affordable apartment homes serving residents earning 30%, 50%, and 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI), including Permanent Supportive Housing units for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Together, the developments reinforce a shared commitment to creating stable, high-quality housing paired with resident-centered services and long-term community impact.
“With nearly half of renter households still cost-burdened, the demand for innovative, community-centered housing solutions has never been more urgent,” said Ted Hunton, Managing Principal at FK Architecture. “Bailey at Berkman and Bailey at Stassney demonstrate how strong partnerships and intentional design can create meaningful housing opportunities that strengthen communities and improve lives. We are proud to support National CORE’s mission and contribute to Austin’s growing affordable housing landscape.”
Bailey at Berkman, located in Northeast Austin, will feature a modern four-story community with 104 studio apartment homes designed for individuals and small households, including veterans, workforce residents, and individuals transitioning from homelessness. Planned amenities include wellness and meeting spaces, resident lounges, business centers, and preserved outdoor green spaces.
Bailey at Stassney will introduce a five-story, 104-unit affordable housing community in South Austin, offering studio and one-bedroom apartments, along with supportive resident services, fitness and community spaces, and transit-oriented accessibility.
Together, the projects reflect FK Architecture’s continued commitment to delivering impactful, affordable housing communities throughout Texas and beyond.
