Kryton Launches New ROI Calculator to Help Industrial Builders Forecast True Savings from Durable Concrete

Financial tool combines variables from users and industry sources to project costs of downtime and maintenance compared to Hard-Cem

Kryton International, a global leader in innovative concrete waterproofing and durability solutions, announced the launch of its new ROI (return on investment) Calculator, designed to help customers, contractors, and developers of all industries quickly quantify the long-term financial benefits of using Kryton’s Hard-Cem® products in their concrete projects.

As industrial facilities and infrastructure become more critical for economic development and safety, the issue of durability has moved to the forefront for owners and operators, who face massive losses in the event of concrete repairs. For structures like tunnels and data centers, a relatively minor crack can cost millions of dollars in downtime as crews respond to repair the damage. Varying from industry to industry, these downtime risks – and the costs of additional materials and labor – are often difficult to predict and quantify.

“Construction decisions are increasingly driven by performance and economics,” said Kari Yuers, President and CEO of Kryton International. “We hope the invention of the calculator empowers professionals to see the real value of durable concrete, justify the investment, and plan for long-term success.”

The ROI Calculator enables users to estimate potential cost savings, project lifecycle benefits, and reduced maintenance expenses associated with Kryton’s line of waterproofing and concrete durability solutions. By entering project-specific data, users receive a clear, customized analysis that highlights how early investment in quality concrete products translates into measurable savings over time.

After entering their project-specific data into the calculator, customers will see the comparatively lower cost of building the right way.

“After 18 years of working with this product, I have seen firsthand how investing in quality from the start maximizes return. When builders do it right the first time, the ROI is clear: lower maintenance costs, longer-lasting structures, and peace of mind for every project,” said John Andersen, VP of Sales of Kryton International.

The ROI Calculator includes industry-specific benchmarks for downtime costs and resurfacing intervals as projected by industry sources, including:

  • Manufacturing: Downtime - $260,000/hr, resurfacing 5-7 years
    • Sources: Forbes, Sumitomo Drive, Gitnux
  • Automotive: Downtime - $2.3-3M/hr, resurfacing 4-5 years
    • Sources: Siemens, IndustryWeek, Forbes
  • Data Center: Downtime - $360,000/hr, resurfacing 8 years
    • Sources: Uptime Institute, Pingdom, Ponemon Institute
  • Hydroelectric: Downtime - $20,000/hr, resurfacing 5-10 year
    • Source: U.S. DOE, Industry Case Studies
  • Warehouse: Downtime - $75,000/hr, resurfacing 7-10 years
    • Sources: Logistics Management, Supply Chain Dive
  • Distribution Canter: Downtime - $825,000/hr, resurfacing 6-8 years
    • Source: Material Handling & Logistics
  • Transportation Hub: Downtime - $140,000/hr, resurfacing 7-10 years
    • Source: Airport Council International
  • Utilities: Downtime - $155,000/hr, resurfacing 10-15 years
    • Sources: Energy Industry Reports
  • Retail: Downtime - $12,500/hr, resurfacing 5-7 years

  • Mining: Downtime - $400,000/hr, resurfacing 3-5 years
