Corgan Expands D.C. Presence with Acquisition

The move adds FOX Architects’ 15-person team and longstanding regional client relationships to Corgan’s global program

Corgan, a leading global architecture and design firm, has welcomed FOX Architects, an established design practice based in Washington, D.C. to the firm. Corgan, which works across aviation and transportation, commercial, cultural, data centers, education, workplace and other sectors, established a District of Columbia office in 2024. This strategic addition to the firm accelerates its growth and market presence in the region.

“Washington, D.C., has been a priority market for Corgan, and this step allows us to accelerate the growth already underway,” said Scott Ruch, Chief Executive Officer at Corgan. “FOX Architects brings leadership in the region, strong client relationships, and a talented team that shares our collaborative approach and focus on client service. Together, we are strengthening our presence in D.C. and advancing design that contributes meaningfully to the capital’s evolving civic, cultural and business landscape.”

Founded 20 years ago, FOX Architects has built a strong reputation in Washington, delivering innovative, client-focused solutions across commercial architecture and interiors, building repositioning, and mixed-use environments. The firm’s long-standing relationships and deep understanding of the local market position it as a trusted advisor to both private and public sector clients throughout the region. By joining Corgan, the FOX Architects team gains access to a global network of expertise, advanced research capabilities, expanded technical resources, and a more diverse portfolio of sector specialization. The integration enables the combined team to offer a broader range of services, supported by deeper expertise and expanded resources.

“This marks an important evolution for our practice,” said Derek Wood, Managing Principal at FOX Architects. “We’ve built our reputation in Washington on trusted relationships, thoughtful design, and deep expertise across commercial, workplace, government, and repositioning work. Joining Corgan gives our team the opportunity to increase the scale and impact of our work, supported by deeper technical resources and global expertise. Just as important, the alignment in culture and design approach ensures we can grow in new ways while continuing to deliver the responsiveness and strategic insight our clients rely on.”

Corgan and FOX Architects share a reputation for design excellence and trusted client relationships, each with a strong portfolio and a high percentage of repeat client work — a testament to the quality and consistency they deliver. Corgan serves a variety of sectors and ranks as the No. 1 data center and No. 3 aviation firm in the U.S., and No. 4 architecture firm overall. The firm is also recognized as an Interior Design Giant and American Society of Interior Designers Firm of the Year.

Morrissey Goodale served as advisor to Corgan.
