FCA announces the firm will lead the transformation of SUNY Delhi’s North Hall into a state-of-the-art Applied Technology Facility, following Governor Kathy Hochul’s announcement of a $40 million investment to advance advanced manufacturing training across the region.
Set to open in 2029, the new 30,000-square-foot facility will significantly expand hands-on training opportunities in machining, pneumatics and hydraulics, CADD, welding, instrumentation controls, robotics, 3D printing, and programmable logic controls. It will also house SUNY’s first Mechatronics program, offering both associate and bachelor’s degrees and strengthening the school-to-work pipeline for students across the Southern Tier and beyond.
The project represents a major step forward in supporting New York’s growing need for skilled workers. FCA is honored to play a central role in shaping a facility designed to meet that demand. Thoughtfully planned to foster innovation, precision, and collaboration, the Applied Technology Facility will serve as a launchpad for the next generation of advanced manufacturing professionals.
“We’re collaboratively designing the SUNY Mechatronics Applied Technology Facility as a space where innovation, precision, and collaboration can thrive,” says Principal Architect at FCA Wan Leung, AIA. “This building will act as a foundation for the students who will shape the future of advanced manufacturing. Our goal is to create an environment that inspires learning and accelerates training pathways into in-demand careers across New York State.”
