AkzoNobel Coil & Extrusion Coatings will return to METALCON 2025 (October 21–23, Las Vegas Convention Center) to showcase its portfolio of trusted and proven coil coating technologies for the metal construction industry. At Booth #5005, visitors can explore the full range of CERAM-A-STAR® Select and POLYDURE® coatings, as well as learn about the recently launched IONOMY™ ecosystem – the coatings industry’s first not-for-profit partnership designed to help coil coaters and manufacturers navigate the transition toward energy curing.

AkzoNobel Coil & Extrusion Coatings will highlight the breadth of its CERAM-A-STAR Select program, which continues to make the industry’s most trusted silicone-modified polyester (SMP) coil coating system more accessible and versatile than ever. By streamlining color availability through the CERAM-A-STAR Select Standard Color Program, AkzoNobel supports its customers in reducing complexity, improving production efficiency, reducing lead times, and ensuring reliable product supply.

Visitors to the show can explore AkzoNobel’s full range of CERAM-A-STAR Select 1050 finishes, the smooth-finish benchmark for durability and long-term performance, backed by a transferable warranty and proven in the field for nearly two decades. CERAM-A-STAR Select Expressions finishes are now part of the Select program, which brings new design possibilities, combining the visual appeal of textured prints with a high-performance SMP finish. This unique technology makes it possible to achieve distinctive looks such as wood, slate, or stone while maintaining color stability and lasting protection. CERAM-A-STAR Select Frost finishes offer another option within the Select product portfolio, delivering a subtle textured finish that is both tough and durable to help mask imperfections during fabrication and installation.

AkzoNobel will also feature its reimagined POLYDURE® portfolio, a versatile polyester coating system engineered for smooth application, enhanced aesthetics, and long-lasting protection across diverse markets. Designed to meet the demands of economical building products, steel doors, and appliances, POLYDURE® delivers exceptional durability, superior forming properties, and a wide range of color and gloss options. Powered by a proprietary resin system, it ensures consistent performance and visual appeal in countless applications. As a cost-effective solution, POLYDURE® enables customers to balance economic considerations with specific performance needs.

To support faster and more confident decision-making, AkzoNobel's Canopy App is a tool designed to guide customers through the color selection process and will be on show at METALCON. Paired with the CERAM-A-STAR Select Standard Color Program, the Canopy app enables seamless matches and greater efficiency from specification to project completion.

In addition to its coatings portfolio, AkzoNobel will introduce visitors to IONOMY – the coatings industry’s first not-for-profit partnership designed to help coil coaters and manufacturers navigate the transition toward energy curing. Led by AkzoNobel, the IONOMY ecosystem brings together a coalition of energy-curing specialists, developers, consultants, manufacturers, and suppliers.

IONOMY is designed to provide the guidance, technical insight, and collaboration needed to make energy curing a viable and scalable reality. The ecosystem will focus on building confidence, sharing expertise, and supporting customers as they prepare for the next phase of coil coating.

“We’re proud to be showcasing the trusted coatings that have defined performance in metal construction for decades, while leading the conversation about the industry’s next chapter,” said Sebastien Villeneuve, Transformation Manager, Coil Coatings, AkzoNobel Coil & Extrusion Coatings. “Through the IONOMY ecosystem, we’re helping coil coaters and manufacturers gain the confidence, insight, and partnerships needed to take the next step toward energy curing.”

AkzoNobel invites all METALCON attendees to visit Booth #5005 to explore its latest coatings and digital tools, and to learn more about how IONOMY is helping guide the next chapter of coil coating.

See IONOMY: Redefining Coating Technology | AkzoNobel Coil and Extrusion Coatings for details on how the IONOMY ecosystem can support reduced energy consumption and waste through renewable electricity use and material efficiency compared to traditional curing methods.
