PWC NY Salutes Women-Led Construction Projects

This year, the annual Salute to Women of Achievement presented by the New York chapter of Professional Women in Construction honored one project featuring women in key leadership positions

Women-led projects are transforming the construction industry. This year, in addition to three industry leaders, the annual Salute to Women of Achievement presented by the New York chapter of Professional Women in Construction (PWC NY) honored one project featuring women in key leadership positions.
 
The 2025 Salute Project Award recipient is 116th Precinct Station House from Dattner Architects in collaboration with the NYC DDC as well as JFKM Engineers, Starr Whitehouse Landscape Architects, Via Collective, Langan Environmental, Jacobs, and Citnalta.
 
 The new 116th Precinct Station House is part of the NYC Department of Design and Construction's Design Excellence program. Designed to reflect the neighborhood policing tenets, the station house serves as an important piece of social infrastructure. The project aligns with PWC NY organizational core values of MWBE participation and sustainability, while excelling in design innovation.

In this exemplary project women held significant leadership roles through the project team, including client, architect, consultants, and builder:
NYC DDC -- Lucy Wong, Michaela Metcalfe, Margaret O’Donoghue Castillo, Judy Bernard, Lisa Caban-Rampone
Dattner Architects (WBE) -- Gia Mainiero, Aimee Hultquist ,Shefali Sanghvi, Karina Alonzo

The winning Project Award was selected from many entries that exceeded submission criteria.  

Front runners for the Salute Project Award include:

East Side Coastal Resiliency - AKRF
Metropolitan Hospital Flood Resiliency Project - EDC
Shirley Chisholm Recreation Center – DDC 

The individual Women of Achievement honorees are professionals at the highest levels of the AEC industry and are recognized for their impressive accomplishments and their commitment to lead and mentor. Shining the spotlight on their successful careers demonstrates the many opportunities for women in the field. 

The three 2025 Women of Achievement Honorees are:
Yvi McEvilly - Assistant Commissioner, Alternative Delivery, NYCDDC

Kim Vierheilig, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP – President, National Buildings Group, STV 

Sevinc Yuksel - Senior Vice President, Head of Design & Construction, Rudin
