The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), in collaboration with the American Concrete Institute (ACI), announces the release of ACI/PCI CODE-319-25: Structural Precast Concrete – Code Requirements and Commentary. This highly anticipated code provides essential guidance for the materials, design, and detailing of structural precast concrete buildings and nonbuilding structures.

The publication of ACI/PCI CODE-319-25 completes a key tenet of the PCI Strategic Plan which the PCI Board of Directors adopted in 2018. This groundbreaking achievement follows the establishment of a collaborative joint committee between ACI and PCI, tasked with developing and maintaining structural concrete code requirements unique to precast concrete.

Among the subjects the code covers are design and construction for strength, serviceability, and durability; load combinations, load factors, and strength reduction factors; structural analysis methods; deflection limits; mechanical and adhesive anchoring to concrete: development and splicing of reinforcement; construction document information; field inspection and testing; and methods to evaluate the strength of existing structures.

“ACI/PCI CODE 319-25 has been a decades-long vision and endeavor for PCI staff and many of PCI’s members, going back to before the actual beginning of PCI in 1954,” said PCI President and CEO Bob Risser. “It was a long road, well worth the long hours of hard work. This document gives construction professionals a roadmap in how to specify and use structure precast concrete in their projects. ACI has been a valuable team member on this important project.”

ACI/PCI CODE-319-25 is available here in eBook format in the PCI Bookstore at a discounted price for PCI members.
