CAD-PLAN.png
September 24, 2024

The CAD-PLAN North America team will be exhibiting in booth #22009 at GlassBuild America, Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Dallas. CAD-PLAN’s software solutions are tailored for glazing contractors and industry professionals for drafting, designing and engineering curtain wall, façade and glazing systems. These solutions accelerate turnaround time by automating daily routines, and help improve accuracy and productivity.

CAD-PLAN North America and its team are part of CAD-PLAN GmbH, an expansive international company with more than 30 years of experience supporting curtain wall and façade solutions and services. GlassBuild America presents an opportunity to introduce CAD-PLAN’s solutions and its U.S. and Canadian team members:
 • Jan Krutsky, President and General Manager
 • Matt Marshall, Technical Success Manager
 • Rulon Allred, Sales Manager

The team will be demonstrating CAD-PLAN’s ATHENA, an AutoCAD®-based software, and APOLLON, an Inventor™-based technology. Specially developed to meet the glazing industry’s needs, more than 10,000 worldwide customers use the software solutions to streamline their processes and increase their everyday productivity and quality control – from shop drawings to fabrication documentation including all necessary takeoffs, CNC exports and BIM processes.

GlassBuild attendees who visit CAD-PLAN in booth #22009 can scan a QR code to register for a free 30-day trial with personalized training and on-demand e-learning, and a chance to win prizes valued at $10,000.

Jan Krutsky, President and General Manager

Krutsky leads by example, blending his success in international business with his experience in curtain wall construction project management and expertise as a technical specialist. Known for his data-driven, solution-focused approach, he understands the interconnected responsibilities and critical phasing of commercial construction.

Part of CAD-PLAN GmbH’s global German-based executive team, Krutsky established CAD-PLAN North America, Inc. in 2023 and opened its headquarters in Greenwood Village, Colorado. He is the company’s president and general manager, responsible for all operations in the U.S. and Canada. Before accepting the leadership role for CAD-PLAN North America, Krutsky was the company’s first international sales manager. He has served customers globally from offices in the Czech Republic and Germany.

“At CAD-PLAN, we are creating a world where cutting-edge CAD software solutions drive and automate professionals’ creativity, productivity and precision in curtain wall design and facade engineering. Our mission is to equip professionals with the tools they need to transform architectural visions into reality,” shared Krutsky. “We’ve seen what’s possible in Europe and are striving to lift the whole glazing industry in North America.”

Throughout his career, Krutsky has been involved with managing nearly every aspect of curtain wall, glazing and cladding systems – research and development, drafting, designing, engineering, estimating, fabricating, and production and logistics coordinating.

Prior to being recruited to CAD-PLAN, Krutsky worked for a European glazing contractor, from concept to completion on its state-of-the-art products and project applications. He led the development of the first fire-rated glazing, unitized curtain wall system and its inaugural installation as part of the Prague airport’s renovation and modernization project.

Along with safety and security advancements, Krutsky’s insights and product development efforts also enhanced occupant comfort and quiet spaces. He assisted with interior wall system advancements that incorporated sensor-activated, dynamic glazing that responded to the surrounding environment. He also helped engineer a sound-insulating glass partition system with a 10-foot-high door. When closed, this transparent interior wall system delivered industry-leading acoustic performance of up to 44dB.

An advocate for continuing education and improvement, Krutsky seeks opportunities to share his business knowledge and specialized expertise. He frequently consults with clients on curtain wall design and modeling, encompassing everything from shop drawings to fabrication documentation including takeoffs, to CNC exports, to BIM processes.

Energy efficiency also is a priority of interest to Krutsky. For the first decade of his career, he worked in power generation and transmission as an energy market analyst and business developer.

He earned a Bachelor of Engineering from Coventry University in the United Kingdom with a focus on engineering and industrial management. He also studied at Brno University of Technology in the Czech Republic, from which he received a bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic and communications engineering technology, plus a master’s degree in entrepreneurial and small business operations. After graduating, he applied his engineering and technology knowledge at several leading European companies.

Matt Marshall, Technical Success Manager

Marshall draws from a diverse educational background and 20 years of experience in computer-assisted, specialized design and engineering applications. Based in Calgary, Alberta, his experience includes drafting, designing and engineering curtain wall, window wall and storefront installations, using custom CAD VLISP programs to optimize the process and performance.

As CAD-PLAN North America’s technical success manager, Marshall specializes in CAD software for curtain wall and façade systems. He provides technical support to architectural, engineering and glazing clients across the U.S. and Canada. He also contributes to CAD-PLAN’s ATHENA and APOLLON product enhancements, and develops and delivers educational programs and e-learning services for clients’ specific needs.

“I am passionate about delivering high-quality technical support and training to clients in North America, helping them to achieve their project goals and to overcome their challenges,” said Marshall.

Before joining CAD-PLAN, Marshall was part of the drafting team at Desa Glass where he created comprehensive shop drawings and fabrication plans for complex glazing systems. His involvement included structural integrity analysis, thermal performance product enhancements, and developing advanced 3D CAD/CAM models to expand in-house capabilities and capacity.

Marshall began his career in the glazing industry with Glass Tech Entrance Systems as a fabricator. He was promoted to project manager/coordinator with responsibilities for estimating and budgeting, shop and fabrication drawings, material procurement, and staying well-versed in applicable building codes. He also designed a proprietary tracking system which facilitated better resource management and provided more accurate project completion dates for clients.

Supporting his analytical expertise and multidisciplinary approach, Marshall’s diverse education includes geology, finance, CAD, physics and chemistry. He earned a Bachelor of Science at the University of Calgary and an MBA from the Australian Institute of Business. He currently is pursuing a professional technologist in engineering (P.Tech. Eng.) credential.

Rulon Allred, Sales Manager

Allred is the lead sales manager for CAD-PLAN North America and its ATHENA and APOLLON software. These CAD software products are tailored for the unique needs of curtain wall and façade engineering. “Our product portfolio is specifically created to streamline your design to fabrication and production process and will automatically increase efficiency and productivity,” explained Allred.

Allred joined CAD-PLAN North America in May 2024 and draws from more than a decade of software sales experience for multinational companies. Most recently, he worked as the North American sales manager of Denmark-based Sigma Estimates and led the transition to Estimating America. He previously served as the U.S. general manager of a Canadian-owned IT services and consulting firm offering software for construction and renovation projects.

Earlier in his career, Allred worked with PlanSwift, where he managed national sales, reseller programs, and academic accounts for the takeoff and estimating software. Throughout his various roles, he has directed client development and engagement, product research, and design and product development. He also supports branding initiatives and marketing activities, such as trade show planning and industry association involvement.

Allred brings an in-depth knowledge of technology, takeoff and estimating software and its value to the construction industry. He is based in Phoenix and has worked as a journeyman electrician. During his time in the field, he gained a hands-on understanding of project coordination and collaboration across trades. This insight also instilled a respect for the behind-the-scenes details and management needed to have projects run on time and within budget.
