IIDA College of Fellows Announces 2024 Inductees

IIDA announced the induction of four new members to the prestigious IIDA College of Fellows. This year’s honorees are NBBJ Principal, Design Leader, Robert Norwood, FIIDA, of the Southern California chapter; HDR Interior Design Principal, Abby Scott, FIIDA, of the Great Plains chapter; OTJ Architects Senior Principal and Senior Director of Architecture, Kevin G. Sneed, FIIDA, of the Mid-Atlantic chapter; and Virginia Tech Department Head, Lisa Marie Tucker, FIIDA, of the Virginia/West Virginia chapter. 

“We applaud and welcome these leading minds of the profession into the College of Fellows,” said College of Fellows Chair, Viveca Bissonnette, FIIDA. “This year, and every year, inductees of this prestigious honor are passionate advocates and leaders with a commitment to the values of the association and exemplify a confident, inclusive outlook for designers of tomorrow.”

Admission to the College of Fellows is the highest honor given by IIDA to its professional members, recognizing those whose activities and efforts have benefitted and enhanced IIDA, and whose design work has significantly influenced the design profession. Robert Norwood, FIIDA

As a firm leader of NBBJ’s Interior Design Practice, Robert Norwood brings a distinct complement of skills that enable him to contribute to the firm’s rich legacy of renowned interiors. Robert’s diverse background in hospitality, corporate, commercial, healthcare, and science has honed his ability to understand unique project needs. His empathetic approach combined with his pursuit of unconventional problem solving make him an excellent client advocate and a dynamic and admired team leader. 

 

Abby Scott, FIIDA

Abby Scott is an award-winning interior designer and interior design principal at HDR with a unique talent for leading and fostering long-lasting client relationships to create memorable and inspiring environments. With more thanho 21 years of experience, Abby has cultivated a deep knowledge of strategic vision, programming for diverse spaces ranging from technically complex healthcare environments to innovative global headquarter buildings and culturally iconic libraries and museums. Abby is a Vice President on IIDA’s 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 International Board of Directors and served as President of the IIDA Great Plains Chapter in 2013.

 

Kevin G. Sneed, FIIDA

Kevin G. Sneed has more than 35 years of experience. As a senior principal at OTJ, he established programs such as Workplace Mentorship and the Licensure Initiative, which provided study materials and helped to supplement costs for staff. This program helped spark his creation of the firm's scholarship program for Black/African American Designers towards licensure in interior design and architecture. His commitment to advancing interior design is evident in his ongoing service as a member of the Interior Design and Architect Boards for his state and an advisory board member for one of the local university design schools.

 

Lisa Marie Tucker, FIIDA

Lisa Marie Tucker holds a PhD, is a certified interior designer, and a registered architect with more than 20 years of professional experience in sustainability and historic preservation. She is a professor at Virginia Tech and teaches upper-level design studios and historic preservation. She is the Department Head of Apparel, Housing, and Resource Management. She holds degrees in Architecture and Architectural History from the University of Virginia and a PhD from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Architectural Studies.
