IIDA to Inaugurate Erika Moody as 2024-2025 International Board President

IIDA announced Erika Moody, FIIDA as the 2024-2025 president of the IIDA International Board of Directors, with Stacey Crumbaker, IIDA, Assoc. AIA elevated to the IIDA president-elect. Also elected to the International Board for a new term as vice president is Vibhavari Jani, IIDA.

“Erika’s commitment to the profession and the industry is an incredible asset as the leader of our International Board of Directors,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “In particular, her focus on education and advocacy for designers is a key alignment as we continue to build the future of the design profession.”

All international board members will be inaugurated at the IIDA Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 9 at Venue SIX10, 610 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago.

President (2024-2025) Erika Moody, FIIDA
President, Helix Architecture + Design

IIDA Mid-America Chapter

Erika leads Helix Architecture + Design, a nationally recognized architecture and interior design firm with offices in Kansas City and Denver. Her perspective is marked with leadership and driven by her entrepreneurial spirit. After serving as a principal at a large international firm, she started her own design studio, which later merged with Helix. In 2021, Erika was named the President of Helix. Under her leadership, Helix has amassed a strong portfolio of sophisticated projects and became a majority women-owned firm. In addition to her many varied commitments to IIDA, including serving as the IIDA Mid-America Chapter President from 2014 to 2015, she was recognized with the 2017 IIDA MADA Vision Award and elevated to Fellowship in 2022. Both achievements acknowledge an individual who exemplifies notable qualities in leadership, design, and mentorship.

Associate Principal, Mahlum Architects

IIDA Northern Pacific Chapter

Practicing at the intersection of architecture and interiors, Stacey brings a unique perspective and expertise to the design of educational facilities. With more than 15 years of experience, she has cultivated her practice as a response to human experience and deeply believes in design's ability to shape community. She was one of five nationwide recipients awarded the 2020 AIA Associates Award. This award is given to Associate AIA members who are outstanding leaders and creative thinkers; recognizing significant contributions to their communities and the architecture profession. Stacey received a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and a Master of Architecture from Arizona State University.

 

Vice President (2024-2025), Vibhavari Jani, IIDA

Professor of Interior Architecture and Product Design, Kansas State University

IIDA Mid-America Chapter

With more than 22 years of practice in the United States, Vibhavari has served the architecture and interior design industries in executive and administrative capacities. She has designed and managed large projects for major corporations, healthcare, education, government, and hospitality clients. As an academic, she enjoys working with students and engaging them in creative, interdisciplinary, collaborative, service-learning projects. Her research efforts, conference presentations, and publications have addressed a range of issues including the contribution of Non-Western cultures in the field of architecture and design, influence of collaborative efforts in architecture and interior design education, sustainability and green design, and the influence of new technology's impact on interior design curricula. Vibhavari's work as an educator was lauded by the association as the 2018 IIDA Educator Diversity Award recipient for her collaborative work developing curriculum that highlights the importance of cultural diversity, equity, and social justice in interior design.
