Winco Window Company, a St. Louis-based manufacturer of commercial and architectural aluminum windows, was honored with two prestigious awards at this year’s Fenestration & Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) annual conference, which recognizes member contributions and achievements for their efforts toward progressing the work of FGIA and the glass industry. The event was held at the Omni Amelia Island Resort near Jacksonville, Florida, and several Winco employees were in attendance.

Chairman’s Award – Winco Window Company

Winco Window Company received the Chairman’s Award for its unwavering commitment to the FGIA organization. Winco provided the Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) with commercial aluminum windows for its Tallwood seismic shake test project in San Diego. This project was completed in 2023 and provided valuable seismic testing data that will shape the future of fenestration and glazing products. Winco Window Company will mark 60 years of Association membership this March.

“Winco Window Company has taken the lead in numerous committees,” said Dan Parrish, FGIA Chairman of the Board of Directors. “Their employees contribute to the organization through leadership on multiple levels. They also are strong supporters of FGIA’s education initiatives, having numerous certified professionals under the FenestrationMaster and FenestrationAssociate programs.”

2023 Architectural Distinguished Service Award — Lothar Erkens

Winco Window Company received its second award at the annual FGIA convention when Lothar Erkens, Technical Sales and Engineering, was presented with the Architectural Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes an individual who accomplishes formative work on behalf of the Association and the Architectural Products Council (APC). Erkens serves as  co-chair on cross-council task groups and vice chair of several FGIA committees, including the Lifecycle Testing Review Task Group, the Seismic and Wind-Induced Inter-Story Drift Review Task Group, and the Certification Program Corner Weld Requirements Work Group. He also earned the FenestrationMaster (FMPC) professional credential in February 2019.

“Lothar is a brilliant engineer and inventor,” said Steve Fronek, Vice President of Preconstruction at Apogee Enterprises. “What a great person to have on your team when you need to look at all aspects of a problem before you can begin to solve it.”

FGIA awards were presented primarily by the previous year’s winners, who recognized recipients for their many efforts toward progressing the work of the Association and the industry overall in 2023.
