The Roofing Alliance announced the 2023-24 Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Award recipients. The program offers three scholarship opportunities, and all categories are open to employees of roofing industry companies, their spouses and dependent children. It is also open to construction management students enrolled in undergraduate level or students enrolled in CTE programs or schools--regardless of industry affiliation.
 
 The Roofing Alliance approved ten new Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship recipients, including:

  • Evan Cady, son of Traci Cady, office manager at J&S Building Exteriors, Inc, attending Wentworth Institute of Technology
  • Aidan Carpenter, construction management student, attending North Carolina State University
  • Cecelia Krumholz, daughter of Erik Krumholz, Senior Field Consultant at Tremco Inc., attending University of Minnesota: Twin Cities
  • Piper Lewis, daughter of Charles Lewis, Project Manager at Commonwealth Building Systems, attending Boston College
  • Marena Malone, daughter of Rica Malone, National Account Service Rep at Centimark Corporation, attending Duquesne University
  • Brayden Morford, son of Robert Morford, Senior Chemist at Soprema USA Inc., attending Swarthmore College
  • Michael Nwaigbo, construction management student, attending University of Illinois at Chicago
  • Alexis Petty, daughter of Jammie Petty, Administrative Specialist at Beacon, attending Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology
  • Hannah Redding, daughter of Lorie Redding, Business Manager at Tecta America East Glen Rock, attending Penn State University Park
  • Kennedy Stockton, construction management student, attending University of Arkansas at Little Rock

In addition, the Roofing Alliance approved six renewal scholarships:

  • Davis Edwards attending Huntingdon College
  • Zackary Cekalla attending University of Minnesota: Duluth
  • Cade Edwards attending Boyce College 
  • Julia Shanahan attending Drexel University
  • Cole Beyer attending University of Minnesota: Twin Cities
  • Caylin Angel attending Washington & Jefferson College
“A total of $50,000 was awarded for new scholarships with an additional $30,000 for renewal scholarships,” stated Alison LaValley, Roofing Alliance executive director.  “Roofing Alliance leadership is very proud to be able to support the roofing industry with these scholarships.  To date a total of 159 students have received $1,090,000 in scholarship awards.”
