Harold Thompson, AIA, LEED AP, has joined Perkins Eastman as Managing Principal in the global architecture and design firm’s studio in Dallas, TX. Leveraging 25 years of architectural expertise in planning and urban design, retail and entertainment, workplace, hospitality, and residential work, Thompson is an innovative thinker with an impressive portfolio and demonstrated leadership experience. Joining Colletta Conner, Managing Principal of ForrestPerkins, in the Dallas studio, he will be a great asset to the firm as Perkins Eastman amplifies its presence throughout the state of Texas.

After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin, Thompson launched a career in finance and investment management before realizing his true passion for architecture and going back to school. He received a Master of Architecture degree from Texas A&M University and soon thereafter gained architectural expertise, leading the Dallas architectural practices of both CallisonRTKL and HDR. For a five-year period, he practiced in Dubai as Middle East Regional Director for CallisonRTKL before returning home to Texas. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Office at CallisonRTKL where he oversaw the firm’s business strategy, performance, and operations.

A skilled planner, designer, and project manager, Thompson has delivered projects in more than thirty countries, with particular focus on complex commercial mixed-use and master planning projects. His thoughtful approach to design combines a deep understanding of the latest industry innovations with a human-centric mentality that prioritizes the client’s goals and visions. Select projects include Tysons Corner Center, Dubai Creek Harbour, Dubai Hills Estate, The Avenues Riyadh, Saab Headquarters, the Al Shaya Campus, and the Waldorf Astoria in Kuwait.

“Harold brings with him a great deal of expertise, insight, and ingenuity, and we couldn’t be more pleased to welcome him to the Perkins Eastman team,” says Shawn Basler, AIA, Co-CEO and Executive Director of Perkins Eastman. “As we deepen our roots in Texas, we are confident that Harold’s wealth of design leadership experience will be invaluable to the firm.”

Principal Hilary Kinder Bertsch, FAIA, who leads Perkins Eastman’s Austin studio, agrees. “Perkins Eastman’s commitment to growing throughout the Texas market knows no bounds, and we couldn’t be happier that Harold has joined in the effort to do so. Our Austin studio will greatly benefit from Harold’s many talents, and we look forward to diving in and working together.”

Thompson is equally eager. “Relationship-building has always been of the utmost importance to me, and I’ve long admired Perkins Eastman’s culture of collaboration and partnership. In joining the firm, I’m looking forward to helping grow a culture of creativity and innovation between the Dallas and Austin studios, and working hard to address the needs of Perkins Eastman clients throughout Texas.”

Perkins Eastman is excited to welcome Harold Thompson to the team.
