The havoc from Hurricane Ida making landfall on August 29 has affected states across the Gulf Coast, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. In addition to winds in excess of 100 mph, the storm has brought with it historic rainfall, flooding and tornadoes that have left thousands of people homeless or displaced and more than a million without power, even as many survivors mourn the loss of loved ones with at least 71 deaths already recorded.

Hurricane Ida is on course to prove one of the costliest hurricanes in the United States since 2000, based on AccuWeather data. The company is projecting storm damage of $95 million, which is expected to negatively impact the nation’s economy.

To aid the Red Cross and its partners with their around-the-clock support, which includes providing community shelters, distribution of basic necessities and cleanup supplies, damage assessment and more, Simpson Strong-Tie has donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

Thus far, the American Red Cross has helped provide over 9,300 Hurricane Ida survivors with overnight shelter, served nearly 30,000 meals and distributed more than 10,700 relief items.
