The ACE Mentor Program of Greater Philadelphia, the local affiliate of the nation’s fastest-growing industry mentoring program, will host friends of the design and construction community Thursday, 7 February 2019 at 6:00 pm for the third installment of its successful Giant Jenga Tournament. Proceeds will fund scholarships for current high school students and ACE alumni currently enrolled in higher education and focusing on an A-C-E (architecture, construction, or engineering) related career path. The winning team will earn naming rights for an alumni scholarship to be given at the 18th Annual ACE Scholarship Breakfast in May.

ACE expects over 300 attendees – exceeding previous years’ numbers. Participants will test their steady hands and sense of balance playing Giant Jenga – just like the tabletop game only super-sized. Thirty-two teams of four will compete round-robin style.

“Giant Jenga has proven to be a fun and exciting way to engage our younger mentors, students, and longtime supporters,” said Brian Rawlings, PE, SECB, ACE Fundraising Committee Chair and Principal of O’Donnell & Naccarato Structural Engineers. “We’d love to see this event grow to include participants from firms outside the design and construction industry.”

When: 6:00 pm Registration | 7:00 pm Tournament Begins

Where: Creese Student Center | Drexel University, 3210 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104

Why: In 2017 and 2018 combined, the Giant Jenga Tournament raised $24,500 for scholarships and drew attention to the impact of the ACE Mentor Program. STEM careers, including those in design and construction, are in high demand in today’s global economy. ACE Greater Philadelphia exposes traditionally underrepresented groups – minorities and young women – to educational and career opportunities available in ACE careers through mentoring, support, and scholarships.
