KAI Design & Build Hires 10 New Employees

KAI Design & Build has hired ten new employees to its Architecture Department:

  1. Carl Karlen, of Brentwood, Mo., Senior Designer/Senior Architect. Karlen has 19 years of industry experience. He has a Masters of Architecture from the University of Illinois in Chicago, Ill. and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Architectural Review Board of Brentwood, Mo. Karlen is a lecturer (Adjunct Faculty) at Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, Washington University in St Louis, Mo.
  2. Christina Laney, LEED GA, of Clayton, Mo., Intern Architect. Laney comes to KAI with three years of industry experience. She has a Masters of Architecture from Hampton University in Hampton, Va. and is a member of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
  3. Bruce LaSurs, RA, LA, of Webster Groves, Mo., Project Manager. LaSurs comes to KAI with more than 35 years of industry experience. He has a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Ill. and completed an overseas studies program in Architecture from the Unite Pedagogique d'Architecture in Versailles, France. He is certified in Structural Assessment & Visual Evaluation through SAVE Disaster and Emergency Coalition of Missouri. He is also a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
  4. Chris Link, CM-BIM, CDT, LEED AP, of Godfrey, Ill., BIM/VDC Manager. Link comes to KAI with 17 years of industry experience. Link has an Associates degree in Architectural Drafting and Design from Ranken Technical College in St. Louis, Mo. He is the President/Founder of St. Louis Revit User Group (STLRUG).
  5. Jacob Manse, of Chesterfield, Mo., Intern Architect.  Manse has seven years of industry experience. He has a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kansas. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
  6. Decorda McGee, LEED GA, of University City, Mo., Intern Architect 2. McGee has five years of industry experience. McGee has a Masters of Architecture from the NewSchool of Architecture & Design in San Diego, Calif.; a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Engineering from Chicago State University in Chicago, Ill.; and an Associates of Applied Science CADD degree in Architectural Drafting from ITT Technical Institute in Mount Prospect, Ill. McGee is an Associate AIA member and a member of the Board of Directors for RISE Community Development and a Co-Chair of RISE Young Professionals.
  7. Matt Niemeyer, of Gillespie, Ill., Project Architect. Niemeyer comes to KAI with 20 years of industry experience. He has a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
  8. Jason Randle, of St. Louis City, Mo., Project Designer. Randle comes to KAI with 29 years of industry experience. He has a Bachelor of Architecture from Southern University at Baton Rouge, La. and is a member of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA).
  9. Andy Sebacher, RA, LEED AP, of Florissant, Mo., Project Manager. Sebacher comes to KAI with 33 years of industry experience. He has a Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State University.
  10. Adam Walker, of Florissant, Mo., Project Designer. Walker comes to KAI with nine years of industry experience. He has an Associates degree in Architectural Technology from the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, PA and a Bachelors in Sustainable Design from Boston Architectural College in Boston, MA. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA).
