LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The new Grace Place Church in Berthoud, Colo. shows off nearly 30,000 total square feet of wall, roof, and soffit panels from Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation.

Grace Place Church is not your average church. It offers live concert performances, retreats and special worship just for kids. In order to make this sanctuary as contemporary as the organization itself, the church needed authentic materials that would match its mission. Enter Metal Sales™, providing thousands of feet of durable, sleek, and 100 percent recyclable metal panels. The versatile panels create a vibrant and welcoming aesthetic for Grace Place.

“We chose Metal Sales panels for a variety of reasons,” says Mike Vander Ploeg, studio director for Visioneering Studios, the architect of the project. “Not only did the panels provide us with great value, but they also served as a blank canvas for us to incorporate unique architectural features into Grace Place Church.”

Once spread out between four industrial buildings with only 300 seats for worshippers to squeeze into, Grace Place with the help of Metal Sales, has reached its full glory under one roof with an expanded 700-seat auditorium. The new Grace Place Church sits majestically on a 19-acre site complete with the new auditorium. A classic local restaurant, called Trailhead Café, was conveniently relocated to serve residents. Roll-up doors and expansive windows provide views of the Rocky Mountains.

The exterior of the large auditorium in Grace Place is clad with 12,000 square feet of 7/8” Corrugated 22 gauge Terra Cotta exterior wall panels from Metal Sales. The deep reddish brown color complements the exterior cladding of the entrance. More than 3,000 square feet of Metal Sales PBR-Panel 24 gauge champagne metallic panels adorn the front of the church and provide a pleasing backdrop for its sign.

The Grace Place Church roof features more than 13,000 square feet of Magna-Loc 24 gauge roof panels in Ash Gray. Metal Sales 24 gauge Soffit panels match the roof’s color, tying the polished look of the church together.

The impressive variety of Metal Sales panels available for the design of Grace Place, along with the company’s nationwide network of branches, made Metal Sales the ideal partner.

"In a business where time is money, location of product is paramount,” says Abe Johnson, owner and president of Big Johnson Construction, the metal building erector for the project. “Metal Sales products perform very well and are available locally, which greatly expedited the completion of this project."

In 1963, Metal Sales started as an agricultural-based company. Today, the company manufactures products for a wide variety of industries and serves the commercial, architectural, residential, and agricultural markets.

“We thought that Metal Sales’ background lent itself very well to this project in rural Colorado,” adds Vander Ploeg. “As a result, we are very happy with the finished product and the building is already well-known and highly regarded by the community.”

Grace Place Church was completed in Oct. 2015. The project team included architect Visioneering Studios, Irvine, Calif.; general contractor Fransen Pittman General Contractors, Englewood, Colo.; metal building erector Big Johnson Construction, Fort Morgan, Colo.; and steel supplier B&C Steel, Gering, Neb.
