Valspar Helps to Meet Stringent Sustainability Classifications

November 12, 2015

As standards and expectations in green building and design evolve, so must products in the architectural industry. Valspar will be showcasing its leadership in sustainability at this year’s Greenbuild International Conference & Expo. Greenbuild focuses on innovation, thoughtfulness and sustainability in the building industry. In addition to the exhibitors and educational opportunities, each year the conference features a unique, sustainable installation. The installation—part of Building Design+Construction’s (BD+C) GreenZone—finds a permanent home within a community following the conclusion of the show.

Valspar is partnering with BD+C on this year’s installation, The Growing Green Center, which will eventually live in Druid Hill Park in Baltimore, MD. The Center features wall and roof panels adorned in Valspar’sFluropon SR coating in Light Silver Metallic and will serve as a space for community activities, training programs and workshops put on by the People & Parks Foundation.

“We are thrilled to contribute to The Growing Green Center at this year’s Greenbuild International Conference,” said Jeff Alexander, Vice President of Sales for Valspar. “We strive to keep innovation and sustainability at the forefront of all our business decisions. The GreenZone installation showcases Valspar’s ongoing commitment to both responsible building practices and the enrichment of local communities by providing an outlet for further exploration of sustainable living.”

At Greenbuild International Conference & Expo, November 18 - 20, in Washington, D.C., Valspar will highlight its latest achievements at BD+C’s booth #3701 including:

  • Cool Coatings: Cool Coatings systems from Valspar help you save on energy costs while helping the environment at the same time. Valspar’s Fluropon SR, a 70 percent PVDF coating with solar reflective pigments, is not only functional, but also is an environmentally responsible architectural coating option. Selected specifically for the GreenZone installation, Valspar offers a large palette of energy-efficient colors that meet the rigorous LEED v4, ENERGY STAR and CRRC requirements.
  • Fluropon Pure: Valspar is proud to introduce Fluropon Pure; a reduced hazardous materials focused coating, ideal for architectural projects with challenging environmental and sustainability requirements.Fluropon Pure is a Red List compliant coating that will support our customers who participate in LEED v4 and Living Building Challenge’s Declare programs. With transparency top-of-mind, architects and suppliers alike can rest assured knowing specific Valspar coatings allow them to achieve the highest environmentally friendly classifications
