Inspirational Building Knowledge at the 2015 AIA National Convention

Educational Opportunities Will Help Architects Tackle Acoustics, Indoor Air Quality, and Complete Comfort Specification of Sustainable Materials, and More.

May 15, 2015

CertainTeed Corporation is heading to Atlanta for the 2015 AIA National Convention with a full slate of insights and expertise guaranteed to inspire. From May 14-16 at the Georgia World Congress Center, the company will showcase its newest product technologies at booth #4037 and host a series of continuing education courses aimed to help architects overcome some of their toughest challenges at the Building Knowledge Learning Lounge #4027LL.

“We always look forward to this annual AIA event as an opportunity to exchange building knowledge expertise around trends and product innovation,” said Mara Villanueva-Heras, vice president of corporate marketing for CertainTeed Corporation. “We’re excited to share what we’ve learned and interact with the architect community at the show.”

1. Engaging Booth Conversations = Valuable Credits

For the first time ever, attendees will have the opportunity to earn valuable learning units while

chatting up CertainTeed building science experts on the show floor. The new Expo Chat program allows architects to qualify for 0.25 LUs following brief, 15-minute conversations with designated subject matter experts on key topics including indoor air quality and acoustics.

2. Thought-Provoking CEU Courses

For deeper talks on the industry’s most pressing issues, the Building Knowledge Learning Lounge will feature eight AIA-certified courses on evidence-based design, product transparency and healthy indoor environments. CertainTeed sister companies, Vetrotech and SAGE Electrochromics will present courses on dynamic sun shading solutions and integrated window and lighting systems. Sign up at www.convention.aia.org/event/schedule.

3. The “Down with Decibels” Movement Continues to Gain Momentum

CertainTeed continues a monumental movement to restore the silence in our offices, schools and healthcare buildings. Experts in acoustics research and design will be on hand to answer questions and rally attendees around the idea that acoustics profoundly impact the way people work, learn and heal in the built environment. Through a roving video reporter, architects and distributors can share their perspectives on acoustics in the office environment.

In addition, Robert Marshall, manager of marketing technical services for CertainTeed Ceilings, will lead a course on “Optimizing Classroom Acoustics to Overcome HVAC Noises” on Friday, May 15, at 2 p.m. The event will shed light on the company’s unprecedented efforts in optimizing acoustics in educational settings.

4. Innovative Material Solutions for Complete Indoor Comfort

The new CertaSpray X Open Cell Spray Foam Insulation will make its debut at the show. The company’s newest spray foam insulation meets the requirements of AC377 Appendix X, so it can be installed in attics and crawl spaces without the need for an additional ignition barrier or intumescent coating. The industry-exclusive AirRenew IAQ Gypsum Board and SMARTBATT insulation with MoistureSense Technology will also be on display, highlighting the company’s cutting-edge efforts to help architects ensure optimal indoor air quality and complete comfort in any project.

5. A Sneak Peak into the Making of a Sustainable HQ

In conjunction with parent company Saint-Gobain’s 350th Anniversary, the company is transforming more than 320,000 square feet of office space in Malvern, Pa., into a new LEED-Gold certified headquarters that will also serve as a learning lab utilizing CertainTeed and Saint-Gobain products. Lucas Hamilton, manager of building science applications for CertainTeed, will offer attendees a behind-the-scenes look at the dramatic transformation underway.
