The 2015 “Shake it Up” Exterior Color Contest

March 30, 2015

DaVinci Roofscapes, the color leader in the polymer roofing industry, launches the 2015 "Shake it Up" Exterior Color Contest on April 1, 2015. This contest gives a lucky homeowner the chance to win a $2,500 cash grand prize to help add color to the exterior of his or her home.

The third annual contest is open to all homeowners nationwide. To enter the contest, homeowners should visit www.todayshomeowner.com/color and submit a digital photo of their home’s exterior along with up to a 250-word description stating how they wish to “shake up” the exterior of their home with color and colorful products. Homeowners have until April 24, 2015 to make their submissions online.

National color expert Kate Smith, with Sensational Color and Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford radio show co-host Allen Lyle, will help judge the contest to determine three finalists. Smith will then work with a professional artist to create renderings and product wish lists of how the three finalists can transform their home’s exteriors by adding color and colorful products manufactured by the contest sponsor and partners.

The original photo submission and the artist’s renderings for the three finalists will be posted on the contest site for online public voting from May 16, 2015 to May 30, 2015. The finalist with the most online votes will receive the $2,500 cash grand prize and will be announced on or around June 5, 2015.

“Springtime is ideal for shaking up the home exterior with color,” said Smith, chief color maven of Sensational Color. “From the top of the roof down to the front door and trim on the home, there are lots of ways to add color to jazz up the house exterior. This contest helps provide insight and inspiration to homeowners to find the colors that work best for their homes.”

The contest sponsor, DaVinci Roofscapes, offers polymer slate and shake roofing tiles in 50 standard colors with the option to custom create any color a homeowner desires. Contest partners Therma-Tru doors and Fypron polyurethane trim products also offer product options that allow homeowners to enhance their home’s exterior in colorful ways. For more information, along with the entry form, complete rules and regulations regarding the contest, can be found at www.todayshomeowner.com/color.

Almost 300 entries were received during the first two years of the “Shake it Up” Exterior Color Contest in 2013 and 2014. Homeowners from across the country submitted their home exterior.

For color exterior ideas and inspiration, homeowners can download two free e-books written by Smith, “FRESH Color Schemes for Your Home Exterior” and “5 Steps for Finding the Perfect Color Hues for Your Home” at http://www.davinciroofscapes.com/color-studio.php.
